Me and s-l-i-x on here got down to business, with the bonnet at the house and the carbon wrap with advice and a guide from stainesy (much credit). we got cracking right away with the wrapping, which took a coffee break and some fiddling. Got there in the end and I was chuffed.
Took a few quick photo's before the change over, poor quality though
My ruined bonnet:

The new sexy carbon one:

Bonnet off and ready for swap:

Now for the lolz and rolflcopter.
I sourced the bonnet from a cabriolet without much thought, turns out the bonnet has different clips and is a different size all together, its longer and narrows more
So now I have a mk3.5 bonnet for sale, followed by a journey in a KA up north for a wedding as I'm not driving the golf now, followed by I just put a big scratch in my rear n/s panel due to a broken railway fence in the bushes... the fun never ends! Good news is, I still have a sense off humour

Always look at the positives!

haha, I blame VW for a botch mk4 Cabriolet that has a completely different front end demension yet looks like a mk4 and uses a Mike|3oat chassis... my fault for not researching, I assumed they where identical as they looked identical even when parked up next to a Cabriolet at the magestrates, but it makes good forum humour!
Good news is I'm picking up a "real" mk4 bonnet tonight and will be reppin dragon green till more carbon wrap comes

Just realised you've got the same colour golf both 4 door.. both with s3 alloys in the same area!
-
yep bluewater, best workshop for after dark work, has more disabled parking than Europe. But we always working in weird places. Painting calipers in a lay by, using bwater for lighting, my parents drive for other work like FMIC and wellding shorter drop links.
Both on Audi rims.
Just there's an idiot Kent police plod down bluewater who just pulls everyone. I can deal with the met as I see alot off there lads at work, but Kent police are a pain.
where in Kent are you?
-

Yeah there allways pulling people down there..My mate used to meet up with his scooby mates down there and race about so i'm not surprised tbh.what you mean you see them at work??
I live in Belvedere dude..work in woolwich.
I met Slix before I purchased a tyre of him aaaaaages ago
But i'm not really about much as in driving I work 10 hrs a day 6 days and week in woolwich
-
I work in Woolwich :lipsrsealed:
Small world as I know you, I was round his house when you came to get the tire.
I would do it Dave if you were closer. Need to visit IOW at some point, as I've never been.
Did more work on the car. Picked the new bonnet up for £30 from some mansion, managed to fit it and install a new headlight along with a few other things. However from all this there is more bad news, turns out the impact damaged the bonnet lock commpletely, we managed to bend it back enough to latch and lock, this will need replacing. The big plastic mould that hold the radiator has bent with the n/s wing being knocked out off alignment. Will get a quote and second opinion on damage as my partners uncle has a body shop before I carry on any more work.

Hopefully my golf will get fixed otherwise you will.
What you got planned in the bag.
Shame they never burnt Woolwich to the ground during the riots. Where about you work in that delightful place, I'm in the town centre by the ferry.

Was it a single sheet you used for bonnet mate, or strips stuck down together?
-
Single sheet, just have an extra hand or two handy as it is do-able, that way you don't have to match the pattern up then. Try it out on something small too, as using the heatgun to much will burn the carbon, over stretch it whilst its hot and on cooling it can split a little. Brilliant stuff though, pm me and I'll link you what I was recommended. I will also send you a list of whats needed and stainsey's guide he sent me.
