Title: HID's
Post by: gtimac on 20 September 2011, 08:21
Hey guys

Im looking for some HIDs at the mo for my AGU.  Have found some decent ones that I have used on previous cars and a good price.

Are mk4's H4?

Asked this a while back...

Only do it if you have projector lenses (like angel eyes or R32)

as otherwise it will scatter light everywhere, with no focused beam

yup totally.

I got a set of H7 HIDs, will be installing soon and replacing the rest of the bulbs with LED SMD bulbs. Hoping to give it a much crisper look. If I don't like it I'll just change it back.

As to where to get em, ebay or the classified ads on here would be a good place to start!

guys out of interest are Anni headligths projector( the glass bulb type) that look decent with HID kits?

The standard lamps simple look terrible with HIDs and don't look factory at all (which i presume is what most of us want)

Anni headlights are just standard lights with darker inners. The reflectors and lenses will scatter the light from HID's all over the place just like standard lights do.

OEM xenons (R32 type) or replicas with projectors are the only way to pull HID's off properly.

The MOT is changing soon and HID's will be illegal unless you have self leveling headlights and headlamp washers.

if you want more light, fit higher wattage bulbs like 100w rally spec which are illegal for road use.
if you want to look cool, gel your hair and get some raybans..
