Hi, I know I'm a new guy but I'm looking at a mk2 Golf and see this forum is fairly busy, so it could be a good place to ask some fans of the car.
I've got a Skoda Fabia 1.9tdi at the moment which I really like, but the 'better half' wants me to get a cheaper car.
The car in question is a J reg GTD, which means 1.6 turbo diesel pumping out a huge 80bhp. :grin: It's basic spec so no leccy windows or central locking. It's done 100k. And it's up for £350.
My questions to you guys are:
What should I look for when viewing the car? Any areas that could be dodgy?
Are the diesel units any good? How many miles if looked after can I expect out of it?
Are electric windows/central locking easy to fit?
Is the car generally easy to work on? I can do some things mech wise but only on simple cars.
