I had to share this with you all!
I got some Toyo Proxes for a very good price off here. I took them down to this so called tyre fitting place which has not long opened near to me today. They removed my budget tyres that were fairly worn from my 15" BBS alloys and fitted the Toyo's....Simples as I would have thought?!
I drove down the road and at 40mph my steering wheel started shaking like something possessed. I turned round and took my car back and explained what had happened. By this time the tyre fitting place was fairly busy and the guy who fitted them said to me that I had the wrong tyres for my car. I asked how this could be? He said that Golf GTI's are not meant to have Toyo's on them!! I then said Toyo is a tyre manufacturer that makes tyres not cars! He would not have it.....He said that the Toyo's I had should be for Jap car!! I honestly could not believe this so I told him in not the politest of ways to check the balancing.....He reluctantly did this and started refitting my wheels, well he put the wheels back on whilst still going on about how they were not the ones for my car.
Anyway......Since they have been balanced they are fine but I just could not believe it and as said above.....Just had to share this story from a bit of shock/annoyed!

sounds like the guy has slept with a tyre fitter

Should have asked why he didn't point that out to you in the first place, that way you could have  and walked away

lol, i recently had a similar experience with something else, my Girlfriend has just bough her 1st car, its a little 1.4 vauxhall tigra, arden blue, FSH, 73k on it, nice little car actually!
anyway, prior to picking this one up we stopped in a few local car sales places, and the guy asked what we was looking for so we told him, a tigra 1.4 or 1.6.
then he turns around and goes ahhh you have trouble finding one of them, there really really rare and only made them in a 1.7...... after telling him i had viewed several in the last few days he was still adamant that we where wrong and he was right.
some people don't deserve to be in the industry there in!
-
Find a better tyre depot next time!
-
Let me guess, Kwik Sh1t ?

You're thinking of the Cougar, or Probe.
-
The Puma was rare in the 1.7 as it was the Ford Racing Puma one right? With the similar engine to the Zetec S fiesta.
-
no they done the puma in 1.4 or 1.7 my ex had the 1.7 was like a go cart
-
he should have balanced the wheels when he put them on, some bloody retards out there

Correct.
The Racing Puma was lightly breathed on, but had that rather lovely wide-body kit on it and was rather rare.
Not that there were that many Pumas made, full stop!

Which one in Milton Keynes? Please tell me it was wolverton.
-
Yeah probably, but still he should know better, and thoes pumas came with some horrid wheels, 4 leaf clover style if I remember correctly.
