I have a friend that want to splash out £60k on a Audi R8..... I could think of a few better cars to spunk £60k on!!
What would you buy??
-
would have to be a near new rs6 there awsome
-
An M3 CSL and a deposit on a house
-
Nissan GTR, 911 Turbo, BMW M3/M5, Mk6 Gti with a luggage net.
-
I should of added that this friend is female... and already has a few houses. SO £60k for a car only!!
She wont do older cars.. as thats just not fashionable. Nothing with 4 doors, or shouty look at me styling. The front runners are R8 and 911 (of some kind).
Im pretty sure we can do better!!
-
In that case it will be the R8 as it has the nice lights on the front.
-
be a second hand r8 for tht money
-
sooooooo many possibilities....
-
be a second hand r8 for tht money

Something from this page:

Because you need to make the point that a new car will be in fashion for about five minutes.
A Bristol will be stylish forever and hold its value, as well.
I'd take the 1977 Bristol Brigand and probably some choice upgrades, like DTA management on the motor.

er.... So she want's a Ford Mondeo then.

The sexiest rear end i have ever seen on a car

I'm a Porsche man so would have had an 'in your face' old Porsche but an R8 seems a good choice.

Gran Turismo

I love them
-
Good choice with the Granturismo    thats what i would probably go for in her position.... If it was me I would go new m5.
She knows a little about cars having had a boxteS for a while, and now a new shape TT. She will not entertain anything that is old/mature man-ish, so the bristol is out.
I think she is sold by the R8... :undecided:

An R8 does say 'look at me', as everyone knows it's not a cheap car.

agreed... by shouty I was refering to the GT-R type cars with lots of horsepower and stick on halford bits.
-
drove my mates dad's R8 before he sold it just a couple of months back... its so awesome its unbelievable.. dsg box in it felt great.. sounds amazing.. so comfortable.. all the mod cons (sat nav, climate control etc).. a proper cruising car.. pretty fast as well  he had the v8 and i just loved it.. now he just has a Q5 and a merc c class kompressor

I don't think anyone who could afford a GT-R would stick anything on from Halfords.
-
Is it only me or is the R8 slightly boring looking?
-
I'd get an R8 or DB9.
-

It's just you. Cars f*cking gorgeous.
-
I'd go for an R8 personally but what about a V8 Vantage?
-
Porsche 911
-
Twin Turbo R8

Why would you be taking it back after 18mths :undecided:
-
My mate pete has a red R8 convertible, driven it, loved it, drove his 360 spider last year and the R8 was much nicer
R8 FTW, but i would also have a Lambo as you dont see many, not round where i live anyway
-
The lambo looks like the winner here... its probably the only other she would go for after the 911 and the R8.

Money to burn..... Had this 'discussion' with my uncle today....
Chopping an 11 Plate Panamera Turbo
For a 911 Turbo S .... Taking it back after 9 f**kING DAYS!
For a 61 plate Panamera Turbo S
Can you IMAGINE the hit on that shiz?
Oh and I'd go R8 allday
-
I am actually shocked that everyone else chosen the R8 also... surely £60k gets you something better than what essentially is a cheap mans gallardo!?! no
-
I'd go for a merc sl63  one day
-
I like the R8 as an overall package it looks good and the interior is a lot nicer than any other cars available for the money.

It will be used everyday... so anything old is probably not going to be the best of options.
-
Old 2nd hand Ferrari deffo. Or a golf and rebuild it tuned to the nuts and fast as hell :)
And a holiday lol

I've always liked these since I saw one last year
-
For the money it has to be the nissan GTR. Amazing power amazing handerling and buy them used for 40k.
-
She is test driving the R8 today.. so lets see how that goes. I imagine she will leave a deposit if she likes it...
tbh the only other car i would go for is the 911 (which is a little bland) or the gran turismo which will depreciate like a brick :undecided:
-
I'v been very lucky and drove the R8 and a Lamborghini Gallardo round a track... My choice would be a used R8

Agree mate.. I got upto 145mph before i had to brake hard for a corner
-
She drove the R8 yesterday and said it wasnt better than the porsche she test drove in any way
the R8 was an auto and according to her it just felt like a larger version of her TT.... not sold!!
the quest continues....
-
BENTLEY GT CONTINENTAL W12 awesomeness?
-
Its got to be the Gallardo, but maybe she will think that is just a big TT as well.
-
she just claims the 911 is better built and more of a drivers car than the audi... it may have been down to the auto box she tried it with.
lambo test drive next week at some point i hear... such a tough life at 31 :undecided:
-
I have driven the Audi R8 in manual version on a track day, and I wanted one immediately, now wheres my next promotion.......
-
If I had 60k I'd consider PX'ing my family wagon for one of these

Was it the V8 R8? If so im not suprised, its not that special (in comparison to the V10 R8)
GTR is just quick, nothing else really. Best car would be a 911 for her as an overall package. Maserati is nice but you would have to love it and they are not very fast.
A bently continental would be a good shout.
Other end of the spectrum: Range Rover Sport
-
She could buy all of the mk3s in the world.
-
She could buy all of the mk3s in the world.
She would also have to go into rehab to get off that pipe! unless she simply wanted to weigh them in... either way, we would all be winners!
-
why dont you ask her for the cash to fix your car?

.... erm because I have the cash to fix my car*
* I just think it should be the person/people at fault that pay for the repair
