Title: Warning light help please guys
Post by: mdibb2009 on 18 September 2011, 20:09
Right guys just got my car back from having an engine swap, like for like swap 1.6 AKL engine.

Everything seems fine apart from I now have a red warning light that flashes on the dashboard and bleeps 3 times when I start the car (!)

The guy said he has checked over all the wiring etc... and plugged it into his machine but its not showing up any faults.

Seems strange as there was no light before the swap and its all of a sudden appeared.

Checked fluid level and all is fine

Any ideas guys ?

Thanks very much

which light? if its the coolant level then it could be the sensor in the header tank, which means you need a new header tank, not expensive either!

Thanks

probably either break fluid sensor or brake pads reaching their limit. re-check brake fluid resevoir!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Should the brake fluid be filled upto the brim of the resevoir ?

I know it has MIN and MAX levels on but my max level just says MAX with an arrow pointing towards the top of the resevior so wasnt sure how  much to put in ( Its not at the top at the minute by the way )

Thanks very much

you got a point as in it only happens when he revs, but wouldnt the light shaped like an oil can light up?..
the oil warning light illuminates when you turn the ignition on but goes out when you start as the pump supplies pressure.

Thanks guys, yes I looked into that but was told if it was the oil pressure it would be a red oil can light, and an amber oil can light if it was low oil so they ruled that out.

Thanks again

check the brake pad thickness or the wire going to the brake pad warning sensor!

Thats exactly what I thought mate, seems strange.

Its asif when I rev over 2000rpm its triggers something and flashes on.

update :

Ok guys so took it to somebody for a diagnostics check and they have told me the brake warning light is coming on due to this fault :

SUPPLY VOLTAGE TERMINAL 30 (ABS)

Any ideas what this is ? Ive checked the fuses on the top of the battery aswell as the plug where the battery is which I was told is all to do with the abs and all seems fine.

Thanks very much guys
