What are peoples views on Corrados ? and what engine is preferred ??
I like the thought of G60 but the VR6 sound would be epic
Been looking at them for ages think they are sexy
-
VR6 'rado FTW, I'd love one
-
dunno a chappie down the road from me has a g60 and i love the whine as thats spinning up!
-
which one is faster a stage 4 g60 or a 2.9 vr6 ?
-
i keep on thinking about owning a corrado and the urge is getting stronger.
engine wise no idea. looking at the price ranges ect i would probaly seriosly consider buying a 16v and fitting a 1.8t
-
1.8 or 2.0 16v ??
I just think the urge is getting too much they have so much awesomness
-
agree with Danny here
limited to what you get out of a vr6 and a g60 you have the added cost of servicing the supercharger.
if you are serious there are a few nice examples on edition at the mo dependent on your price range.

its a 9a lump but you aint buying it for that engine as said above
-
Do they handle well ??
Im not a member on edition  (scrap that i am a member  )
-
They handle fooking well - that's kinda the whole point of a Corrado!
Loved mine when it was on the road.... really should get it back outta the barn.
The ABF gave it a good kick up the backside performance-wise, although obviously not another litre, or charging's worth of extra grunt!
I'd do a 1.8T conversion, only I hear they cost about a miiillion pounds.
-
1.8t conversion would obviously be the way forward but that would set me back a fair bit of money that i dont have
How often does the supercharger need servicing ? just checked its £500 for stage 4 charger from GWerks
-
Every 60K IIRC.
-
so thats not to bad then same as cambelts..
-
Thats my next car I think, going to try and buy a 1.8t straight out though  Ive heard a stage 4 g60 is the same power as a vr, but it canes fuel more than a vr. I'd either have a vr6 or a 1.8t, would love to 4wd it too, would be the perfect car!
-

Amen to that.
-
cant you get a syncro version non uk ?
-
out of the 16v's it woul;d probaly go for the 1.8 as that has normal k jet and should go ok and respond to a few mods and possobly 2.0 bottom end if you wanted to go that way.
the 2.0 has a fueling system that is the bastard child of kjet and digifant it's just horrible to look at and dosent seem to work particuarly well and as id proably drive it about a bit pre conversion that'd be anoying.
tho as DH said his corrado certanly went better with the ABF than it did with the 9A on nasty jet
as for handeling they have awsomness
-
for 1.8t conversion you would need the same stuff that you would for a mk2 conversion wouldnt ya ?

No.
This was doing some pretty quick laps when we were out in 2008:

You could see the LSD dragging it around the bends, which is the alternative to 4WD.
-
what engine was yours pre abf ?
-
VR6 is a good choice, G60's are ok but need lots of looking after.
-
When you go to view, make sure you pay a lot of attention to the body work.
Mine had a few niggles that I sorted but thankfully the body was solid. That will be the biggest outlay if you had to replace anything.
This was the advice I was given when I bought mine and seeing the prices of second hand wings etc. it was good advice
I had the 2.0l 9a and was fine. More importantly, it was as fast as a G60, VR6 and a 1.8t when stuck in traffic
-
Well its definitely an option because they look cool especially for their age.. maybe i would get a 1.8 and convert to 1.8t one day..
-
The chargers on the G60 need servicing every 60k on standard pulley. Its a little cheaper if sticking to standard, but with stage 4 its down to a 30k recommend, and 500 notes for rebuilds every couple of years dependant on how often you drive it. Obviously if its gonna be a daily, go for the 16v (apparently the 1.8 is better than the 2.0). I'm definately gonna get one early next year, and have been looking. Signed up to corrado_net.co.uk, and asked a few questions and had a look on there. My missus will be driving again in February so will be doing less milage, so I'm going for the VR. There are tons of em about too and dont fetch much more than the valvers. Again though, unless you spend a fortune, you wont see much more than about 220 bhp regardless of which one you buy.
-
220bhp is fine for me to get by lol
-
No love for the mk2 Scirocco then?
-
got a satin silver vr6 if you are interested pm me

My mates got a g60 converted to turbo. Apparently better for what power he wanted.
-
so its a 1.8 8v turbo ?? is it powerful ?
-
Its gd for what it is. Shifts. I dont know what bhp it is though
-
Corrado G60 for me.
Vr6 - not a fan of this engine. Just an old fat guzzler.

'spose the 6 cyl engine is more of a comfy GT cruiser. I like the sound of a g-lader on full chat
Shame you cant run a blower scoop (like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSlUVobG8e4)
