Title: ABF questions
Post by: Neo Badness on 17 September 2011, 13:11

Anybody got a part number for this or if it's VW or SEAT bit. I think it's SEAT as it its bracket for cable actuator for hydro clutch.

If anybody knows where i can get one cheap/ got one for sale that'd be great too

I'm also after the bit off the passat that will allow my speedo to read without changing my clocks. Don't know/ can't remember the part number name of it.

It holds the cable actuator for the hydraulic clutch on the gearbox. I'll have a nosey at the link, ta.

Hi, not sure about the name for the first part, however i got a similar one from VW

PN: 357 199 356 cost £35.

And the speedo you want is the same as this one, it screws straight in http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Speedo-Cable-Volkswagen-GOLF-Mk2-1-3-83-91-/400237999973?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d300b3765#ht_1858wt_992

I'm not having much luck getting hold of the actuator though, have you got one? I ordered one from VW but its been on backorder now for around a month.

EDIT! Just re-read what you put, are you using the hydraulic clutch or the cable one? I guess its an 02A gearbox too right?

Yeah buddy, I'm planning on using the mk3 g/box whilst retaining the clutch cable and avoiding the need to fit a pedal box etc.

I'm not sure if the 1.3 speedo cable will attach to the back of my clocks and then go to the mk3 g/box as it's electric speedo feed isn't it?

The electronic sender on the 02A box unscrews and the 1.3 one screws in and goes direct to the clocks.

You're doing the same conversion as me pretty much, how far along are you? I'm just waiting for the actuator then its MOT time.

Ah, I see. I'll need to see if I have the electronic sender on the g/box.
I've got a few bits and bobs to sort out still. Clutch cable, speedo cable, bracket for clutch actuator, possibly the sender on g/box. Have recently become a student again so shoestring budget has gone to a spider thread budget

Do you know the part number of the clutch cable that you're using? On the one I have it seems as though the housing is too long, its a self adjusting Seat one.

I've used the SEAT units fine before now.  There should be a thread somewhere in here with the part numbers in it, too.  If they're installed properly they should just work.

I was supposed to be getting a loan of the bracket pictured to copy it but hopefully I'll gt it sometime this week. I'll post up any part numbers I find and I'll also confirm the correct cable to use. I think it there were mutterings of a 1.3 Golf non adjusting one but I can't honestly say for certain at the mo'.

Any recommendations as an alternative? I'm not bothered about utilitarian look at this juncture, just so long as it works

I need all this aswell. No chance getting at a scrappy where i am have tried numptys on ebay breaking seats but they just f**k me about saying " ill have a look tommorow".
Going power steering with mine so still getting bits for that like the lines and reservoir. Just gonna buy the clutch parts new when the time comes (before november) might cost a bit more but its new parts that i havent had to mess about to get.

Yeah, I'm normally an advocate of getting stuff new rather than messing about with 2nd hand when you take your time, going to get it etc into consideration the saving isn't always as good as it first seems. I'm lucky as mine has already got power steering so one less thing to think about.
