who has it and how much do you pay and who is it with? as me & mad4vws are thinking about taking traders insurance.

so many different levels of trader insurance and also most require proof you are a bonafide trader.
Need to work out what level of cover you need or want.
are you trading from home or fixed premises?
age of all drivers plus convictions
post code area where you live or premises are
do you want test drive cover
max single vechicle value
max insuranace group you want covered
fully comp third party or tpft?
some motor trade policies will allow you to use ncd from a private car
I pay £1500 a year for fully comp fixed premises, vechicle value 6k, limited to upto insurance group 16 no modified cars. with test drive cover. used 5 yrs ncd from private policy for two drivers me 37 steve 51 have expired points combined of 12 but all convictions over 3 years old. have two own cars named on policy and steve has one.

P.S what traders insurances are you guys with?
-
are you in the motor trade? if so what doing?
no offence but i work in insurance and get tired of people coming in thinking they can just take out a "traders" policy and that gives them the right to drive any car for any purpose just as they please!
-
agree with mellow a traders policy is for traders. hence I said they require proof, last time had to provide website of current stock list and I am required to email them monthly with an upto date stock list, with tradex
Rtech pm me who you are with we sounds like you are on a much better deal than we are cheers

no sorry mate. mad4vws is breaking cars and fixing them up and selling them on, so yes he is a trader and breaker as many will know on here and on cgti, he also asked me to go into partnership with him. so thats the main reason we need traders insurance.
so we can go view cars and if happy me or mad4vws drives them back and fix them up and sell them or break them. we dont want to be taking risks in driving without insurance and i have a clean license and tend to keep it that way
-
I assume he has an end of life certificate from the enviroment agency as will need this to break cars with out it you can face prison
-
well whats the insurance called where people like jeremy clarkson can just get in any car and drive it as they are not traders or really affiliated with the motor trade in any way ?? This has always puzzled me as when i get older i would love to have a policy like this (obviously not to cover as high end cars) because my family have quite a few cars i have 2 cars and my mrs family have 3 cars so would be good for me to get in any and drive ?
-
you have to have an insurable interest in the vehicles you are driving or be liable for them as part of your occupation.
These magic policies do not exist and if they did you would not be able to afford one!
there is no easy way around paying the premiums properly otherwise every man an his dog would do it and blast around in any car they please.
even motor traders are not supposed to use the vehicles they are working on for sd&p and if they own it and it is not a "normal" vehicle ie anything with power then they will have to declare it to the insurance company and the policy will be rated on it.
