Title: laquer peel

Laquer started peeling on my boot. went to vw and got some free laquer cause the guy wanted to get home and couldnt be botherd messing on geting recipt and sorting money :grin:

whats.the best way to do it? Sand down the laquer were its peeling with wet and dry then spray it on?

Best off spraying it or brushing it? Anyone got any links to a how too

Tbh you will need to rub it all back with wet n dry. That will take base coat off too so you will need colour as well. Only real way to do it properly. Otherwise the only thing I can suggest is to try to get the lifted lacquer off with a Stanley blade, then go over the top of it all. No doubt the original lacquer will start peeling around where u cut it before very long though

Try a scouring pad first. Seems to work for Ed China on Wheeler Dealers!

By scouring pad do you just mean a brillo pad? Will give it a go tonight and hope for the best

NO!!!

The plastic type ones similar to the washing up ones. Get some from Halfords.

Oh. i know what you meean.  :grin:  thought a brillo pad could be a bit damaging  :grin:

will give it a go tonight/weekend and hope for the best as i really dont have enoigh to get both bumpers respraid

TBH laquer peel is a pain and difficult to sort in small areas.
But give it a go and see if you are happy with the results.

Yeah. Im not expecting amazing results. jus want something a bit better than now and to stop the peeling. in a few months aftef xmas i may get the bumper resprayed.
