Title: Best places to Board/SKI
Post by: R32UK on 14 September 2011, 12:37
Its that time of year again when I will be looking to book my boarding trip for late this year/early next year.

Where is the best place you have been and where are you going this year??

not going anywhere at the moment

USA/Canada = Whistler
Alps = Three Valleys

although have been to many resorts.. they all offer good skiing etc.. just aim high this winter as I have a feeling last years poor snow will continue..

what kind of budget are you looking at?

usa/canada is probably out of the question due to cost. There are 4 of us going and I am the olny one that boards.. so trying to get them to go to states where there was silly amounts of snow fall probably isnt an option.

Went to andorra 2 yrs ago that was great (lots of snow) but expensive (many many rich russians). Last year I went to austia, while the slopes were great like you said not much snow  :undecided:

Not too concerned with price (although i am currently jobless ) just looking for a good deal to somewhere that will have plenty of snow  :undecided:

what is usually classed as high?? excuse my lack of knowledge I usuall just pay and turn up.... due to no job its me that has to organise then thing

If your going to Europe then as Guy said the Three Valleys is probably your best bet, chances are one of the resorts will have a decent dumping of snow. I'm doubtful that the snow will be as poor as last season, however as Guy also said peak season is your best bet for reliable snow.

I went to Les Deux Alpes a few years ago, snow was reasonable & ski area is ok. Tignes & Val Thorens are pretty good resorts. Best snowboarding I've ever had was Whistler/Blackcomb

Been to Morzine a couple of times, good night life and take 10-15 mins to baord to switzerland :D was good fun, lots of places to go with a decent park about 10 mins from the main slope in morzine.

All this talk is making me jealous  So wanna go but gf has chosen new york instead

I'd try and go somewhere with a glacier. Ive been a few places, I really liked kuprun due to there natural halfpipes, only downside being theres no home run! So got to get the gondlar back down.

Pretty sure les deux alpes has a glacier or just very high, went there last year and was good fun, although crap cloudy weather. I've just booked to go to Andorra

Would love to go to the usa, but the flights are mega bucks!

Or Bulgaria, thats stupidly cheap! but mainly for beginners and intermediates.

It does indeed, although the glacial runs are fairly limited I guess you're always guaranteed some riding

Val d'Isere / Tignes/ Espace Killy is pretty good for snow and quite high up... in fact its some of the best riding I have had... weather conditions can be fierce though

here's one I took earlier...

The only downside to val d'Isere is the long transfer times and the hooray henrys.. its not a very down to earth resort
