Title: Mk3 1.4 to 2.0 conversion
Post by: George-lerendu on 13 September 2011, 19:56
I have just brought a 1993 golf 1.4 mk3. I brought the 1.4 as it's fully loaded with all the extras and much more. The only down side is there's a guttless 1.4 motor in it. I've been looking at 2.0 16v motors to drop in but I'm not sure what's involved.
Will the motor drop in without moving the monts?
Do I have to get a ecu from a 2.0?
Is there anything else I would need to get other than the motor?
Can I keep the 1.4 gear box?
Any known issues I should know about befor I take it on?

Any help would be great. Thanks

George.

you need engine, gearbox, driveshafts, ecu and keys, engine bay wiring loom, exhaust and suspension and brakes......other than that it will all quite easily fit

Or buy one ready built (by vw) as it will save you lot's of £££
