Title: Should I sleep in my car tonight?
Post by: Neo Badness on 13 September 2011, 19:05
Live in a really quiet area but there have been two cars torched in two nights, ironically right opposite the police station
Three if you count the taxi that was parked next and it'll prob's be write off.

I slept through all of this  :embarassed:

My Golf is incapacitated at the mo' and I don't have an alarm.  :undecided:

Thinking I'm going to need to get an alarm until I can get my own garage...

Sleeping in the car will get the attention of the scums and you'll end up worse off probably.

I wouldnt sleep in it cos as Khare said, it will probably draw more attention. Id be keeping a very close eye on it though! Can you see it from your window?

No, it's only a car - it can be replaced. If you went up with it, could you be replaced?

ide not sleep in it, keep an eye on it, if needs be link a camera up to your computer and have it sneakily (so that noone can think oh theres a camera im gonna nick it) in the window pointing at the car just incase anything happens.

insurance is for that kinda thing, i know its bad and obviously you dont want the car torching but sitting in it is just gonna give you  a crap nights sleep a cold and possibly more agro.

also the fact if you sleep in it tonight whats to stop them torching it tomorow or are you just gonna sleep in it forever

you would think right out side a cop shop was safe enough

  At some the replies.

It's a pity I moved. Used to be everybody knew who's car it was and it got left alone. Not in a big scary way, just in a he's ok and he'd help you out if you're cars broken way. Looking to move anyway this is just making it even more of priority, seems the area has become a haven for junkies again. Government cut backs at their best, less police to respond etc.

Even so cops are appear useless. Took them 20mins to respond to a call and they were literally 80ft away when I've seen them make it to the kebab shop and back in 5

Mrs won't let me have a rifle, maybe a paintball rifle with a scope? That way they'll be the ones with purple balls...

Off to bed, seems quiet. Fingers crossed.

Well mine and the Mrs's cars were ok but some poor buggers car went up.

Woke up at 2am to 30ft flames :undecided:

Called it in. Fire brigade arrived literally 5mins after the call despite being the other side of town, they put out the car, police shamble up 15mins after fire brigade have put out the car that is almost on their doorstep

Time to move the mk2 to the parents maybe?

Unfortunately they live about 3miles away, plus there really isn't room. Think it's time the police got their collective finger out the takeaway box and maybe did what they were paid to. Starting to piss me right off. You see them swanning about getting curries and skipping the que in the chippy, never signal, double park and seem generally useless. No wonder the junkies and toerags run amok. Realise it's the minority that give a lot of police officers a bad name but they seem to be a growing percentage of them that doing their job is just too much hassle.

I agree with you, but not alot can be done. If u too, the law into your own hands then you would be no doubt in the wrong. If you dontdo anything at all and your car goes up its will be a real shame but u blaming the police wont help, because they still wont sharpen up. Its a loose loose situation mate.
Unless u jpin the force and clean the streets up yourself, all before tonight.

Seems pretty obvious that they could just park an unmarked van and hide in that. In fact they park their riot van opposite and that has blacked out windows, hide in that leap out at the appropriate moment. Job done, and I won't be falling asleep @ 4pm because I've had a crap sleep for last three nights.

I've seen that before, now all I would need would be a remote control....

Cops were out and about last night, they got savaged in the local press due to their inactivity.

Nah, it's the wee b'stard with the matches fault. However the Polis don't help themselves, I speak from various dealings I've had with them over the years. They do project an attitude of couldn't really care less.

They actually said to my mate who got is nose splattered (for no reason) when he was out getting nappies for his kid. "Probably won't catch the guy". Not with that attitude mate, this is despite being provided with a description and bloody fingerprints on the plastic bag he picked up to see if they was anything worth nicking. That and their parking on double yellow lines when they're on personal business...blah blah, I could go on.

I understand they have a difficult job and I don't envy it, however if you take the money you do the job, properly.

You can see where the car was, company came and removed it before I could get a photo.

And the other one.

Couple of other cars have been damaged but not as severely.

As of 3am last night another car caught fire.

Saw the guy this time as I heard the window getting smashed. Called the police who still were slower to attend than the fire brigade

However they have got someone on custody, hurrah  Fingers crossed they have enough to stop this knobber from doing it again. Failing that I now know where he lives

Take it you told the police you knew who it was?

Just out of curiosity, what cars have been torched?

Didn't know who it is specifically, just CID gave me a very good indication of where he stayed, without getting themselves in trouble, if you know what I mean

There was a Mazda something or other, a Honda Accord and Vauxhall Corsa + Astra, Skoda Octavia plus various other scorched cars.

Thinking about organising a Neighbourhood Watch.

O i see! sort of like "no i can't tell you he lives at 44 the street, and is out between 9 and 5 monday to friday"

Pretty much

Unfortunately I wasn't able to pick him out from the mug shots, narrowed it down to two but it was dark and I'm about 150m away. That and one fatheaded cnut looks much like another in sulphur street light, which is quite annoying.

It's only a matter of time before some one gets hurt as it's getting worse each time. Hopefully the guy who was also a witness and closer got a better look at him than me.
