My gf has driven my golf once through necesity (long story). luckily she didnt hit anything but I was cringing every second watching her in the rear view mirror . never again

Maybe I should let mine drive my golf, at least that way when she kerbs the wheels I'll have an excuse to upgrade them & she won't be able to argue with me about it

Could be worse - we need the whole passenger side of the Passat refinishing at some point, after she ran it down a hedge, coming through Porchfield.
I'm kidding myself that with that many 'go faster stripes' it's the fastest Passat in the West (Wight).

oh sh!t mate
Been like it for months now.
*shrugs*
It's only tin and rubber.
Doesn't make it any slower, or less economical and neither has it affected the efficacy of it as a tow car. It still rules.
-
mine did the same to one of my monzas when i had my mk5, never bothered getting it repaired but in fairness didnt look as bad as that!!

My brothers Ex wife kerbed his new 20" X5 rims the same day he fitted them, they cost him £1300
-
Why is it that a lot of women curb the alloys? Is it carelessness or can they not park because it being some one elses car?
I let my wife drive my MK5 all the time, she has never curbed an alloy, and drives a lupo, so the golf is a bit bigger than what she normally uses. She does however appreciate that my motor is a daily drive show car. And knows how important it is.
If she gets too close to a curb she will dip the mirror and take extra care.
-
My missus isnt allowed in mine :lipsrsealed:
She loves her Micra anyway

Lack of care/concentration?
I mean they don't see it the same so probably don't think to concentrate.
I've curbed wheels a couple of time on a beaten up Escort I use at work for hauling crap around.
Simply because nobody cares and I don't put the thought into parking just do it as quick as possible. Plus I'm a completely sh!te parallel parker.
-
my mrs isn't allowed to drive mine, she can stick to her lupo, my alloys are kerbed enough as it is
-
hope she got a slap!!
-
i bet that was a bad day in the wazzer household

Similar thing here, let my gf drive my car , first time in the uk (she is from Iceland were they drive on the wrong fucn side)
she nearly hit every car parked on the left as soon as she set off,so I screamed ..'park the car NOW!' ,and she did! right into the curb, ruining my front bbs rm Lip
so she managed to ruin a wheel after only 500 meters, never Been so scared in my life!
-
ouch
-
Sorry to see this. I followed all the work you put into them.
If it makes you feel better, our lass used the car a while back and got it muddy down one side.... thinking I'd be upset the car was dirty she decided to wipe it off.... it took me a good hour or so to polish the witness marks out.
Hope you can get the wheels repaired.
-
ouch.. couldnt have picked a worse set of wheels to curb as well :( not just easy fix.
