Title: THS FMIC group buy...
Post by: Wazzzer on 11 September 2011, 17:44
As above, had an email back from Ollie saying he could possibly give 10% off the price on the website for the Mk6 FMIC provided we have 5 people minimum

Anyone interested?

You didn't use the word "posted" you said "spammed" which is a completely different context. If you didn't want anything to do with the group buy I am trying to organise, don't post. Don't deliberately try to antagonize me and then whinge when I bite either

You've took it the wrong way and obviously got the hump. I never said I wasn't interested and I even said I was interested on E38 but at a better % discount. If you go about ur life 'biting' at people you won't get very far and personally I refuse to deal with people who obviously have no manners and are completely rude from the go. Good luck with the 'group buy'.

Think you will struggle to get people on this forum modding there cars ( engine wise ).

Have a look about the other threads its more about: tomatos, dealers, the dreaded winter tyre thread!, gays etc etc!

Slightly off topic, i saw an MG ZR the other night with a whopping great intercooler mounted in front of the bumper! is that even legal??

And all the better for it too!!
The trouble is not many people will modify such a new car too drastically. All mk6 GTIs are still under warranty and most of them on here are probably on some sort of finance. Those that are on finance are probably on VW finance as they try and ram it down your neck as soon as you walk in a showroom and under the terms and conditions of the finance it probably says you can't modify your car. My GAP insurance also says this (though my car isn't under finance).
Plus many of us in this section are a little older and have been there and done that and found out that once you go past a stage 1 point of modifying you end up spending money left right and centre to keep the balance of performance vs handling vs brakes etc and the car just ends up a money pit. Once you get a bit older you can afford to insure things that are designed to go like that out of the box (whether you can afford to buy one is another matter!), so there's a big difference between the mk4 section, mk5 section which is becoming the new mk4 section and the mk6 section which is still in its chastity belt. Give it another couple of years and things will have moved on again ...

But still, there's no harm trying to drum up a group buy because there are still a minority of new car buyers that want to go the whole hog (and probably should have bought an R in the first place!) and have the means and desire to have a heavily modified GTI.

Funnily enough richyrb is one of those people (going from his little bit in VW Driver magazine a few months ago - it was you wasn't it?  :smug: ) and he's the one person who has just been a 'little put off'.

Anyway cars are f*cking boring so lets talk more about tomatoes!!!

Lol no comment :P.... Yes that was my ugly mug.. U should have seen my panic when I couldn't find my tripod.. Anyone got any ideas how I got that camera height? :P.  Tbh I took the car to the level where its got the poke I needed for as and when I did drive it and tbh.. I should drive it more often... What the article didn't say is that I also have a mk1 golf in the garage in bits, and a '88 porsche c3.2 with 22k on the clock. I think its also why I'm actually considering to sell the mk6 as after 5 years the classic car bug has finally hit me hard and I'm now after a 912 or a karman ghia but will wait till summer to start viewing cars. To put this post back on topic I would deff look at an upgrade on the intercooler as I find the high torque could be improved as it does drop off a lot and customising the map to tie everything together. Over all though an Rs4 was the best all round performance car, C63 for the stupidity of performance and fun. R8 was just a serious chic magnet, every car I've owned had its plus but daily drive and ability on the road I think the mk6 is perfectly balanced without going ott on cost. I didn't get an R because the bodystyling just never flowed right... Shame.

Waste of money on a Golf.
Just buy a faster and better car like a 1M, M3, C63 AMG Saloon or Coupe, 911, Cayman, Boxter but no Audis except the R8.
Or go Italian Ferrari, Maserati. But no Alfas or Audis except the R8.
You can always buy Indian like a Jaguar and feel a bit British or vice versa. But no Audis except the R8.
Don't bother with any junk Americana, but you know this already.

Beware of the tight arses who can't accept off topic posts. But I'll answer as it's wonderful you!
Audis are one dimensional cars with nice interiors.
The TTRS has a nice engine, awful car. Full stop. Drives like a lorry compared to a Porsche Cayman. I drove them back to back in France.

Not a waste of money at all, my car brings a smile to my face everytime I get the chance to put the foot down! Except on the wet!!!!

Audi need to upgrade the ugly old tech for their radio's and sat nav. Most of the dash is sorta erm I dunno rounded and dull? Feels slighly better quality tho for some reason. Best audi's are the S and RS's the who cars feel more solid and engine to fit the size of model. Why not a 911 an1w?

To each his own but if I had the money to buy any of these cars why would I be on here posting about my GTI. I mean come on are forums not meant to exchange ideas and share feedback of things that have been done with cars wether it be mods or repairing issues that have happened through out owner ship of the car.

Yep, agree with you totally there.
However, once you get sinking money into a car you've got to consider whether your money would be better invested/wasted on something that could do that out of the box for the same sort of money.
Then again, if you're the type of person who would buy the out of the box more focussed car than the GTI and start thinking about modifying that too then you're just a born petrol head and in good company here!!

Having just read what I've typed above it doesn't make an awful lot of sense but it's Sunday morning and my brain is mashed so I apologise and am off to crawl back under a rock.

If I was seriously going down the mod route, I'd mod myself first with some excellent plastic surgery. Nothing like spending money on the bits nature gave you and buggered up in the process. But then again, looking at ME, there's not much to be done as it cannot be done due to a lack of surgical progress. By the time that comes about, I'll be worming my way through the countryside.

Ah well, ETTO.

Krazy_Z and Kenny are young and have the sprit of adventure still in their veins. This is what moves us on as a race. Us oldies who have had the sprit of adventure knocked out of us can sit at home with our cart horses whilst the young bucks can genetically modify their stallions.

Or something like that.

I am still a pretty passionate person, full of vim, but the present depressing mood of this country is p!ssing me off no end. I wish I lived in France. It's so beautiful there and the people are eye candy.

At least you've got your priorities spot on.
As Christiana Rosetti wrote, 'Never mind my bruises, hug me, kiss me, suck my juices .......

She sounds like a very accomodating type of girl. A boy could get into a lot of trouble with a girl like that.

It's very nice to have the rain beading and rolling off freshly waxed paintwork, the only trouble is that you don't want to actually drive anywhere because you know you'll only have to start all over again with the cleaning tomorrow. Unless you enjoy the never ending polishing routine that is. I don't.

In fact if I use my GTI any less I'm just going to bring the f*cking thing into my living room and keep it there as an ornament.

Wolfgang needs a mate, you'll have to find him a young Polo to sow his seed with. Mind you that might be incest so you'll have to find a MINI or something.

I don't think Wolfgang will appreciate a Pillow as a mate. I am sure he has better creatures in mind to bond with.
