Title: Mk2 fuel pump emergency
Post by: Benrevs on 10 September 2011, 18:08
Sorry for double posting!!  My main pump under the car failed yesterday and I am desperate to get the car working for monday morning.  I have got a mk2 16v kr pump from a friend, I know there are some differences as to the pressure system and connections but I can get around that.  My main concern is about the size of the motor/pump... Will it cause any problems having a bigger motor pumping the fuel?? Cheers.

What makes you think its failed? Is it doing absolutely nothing? Checked you have 12v going to the pump when the ignition is on? I had a 16v once that I thought had a duff main pump, turned out the sieve on the lift pump in the tank had a bit of crap in it, cleaned out and all was good again!

Trust me the pump was fubered! I got the 16v pump to work/fit by removing the unneeded extras etc. So all is good thanks.

I think the only difference is higher pressure on the 16v.
