everyone on here talks about VAG-COM. i have a mk3 2.0 git 8v and have downloaded the software and have the cable to connect but for some reason i can connect to the car. Any ideas.
i want it to check the car as it keep cutting out every 2 mins when idle. i have changed the coil pack, the leads, distrubutor. but since then (about a hour ago after RAC said that was the problem)but it cuts out more often now with the new coil. plug the old one back in and it last 5-10 mins on idle.
it's doing my bloody head in someone please help

What year is the car?? earlier models had an ISV. Does the car drive OK?? is it just when the car is cold??

Vagcom can be a pain to get working at times. You need to make sure you've use the right com port.
Where in the country are you? Someone maybe nearby & able to help

year of car is 98. it use to run ok then about 5 mins in to a journey it would cut out, but start again staright away but now the car just starts and the cuts out straight away.
i'll have to keep trying vag-com and the ports then till i get the right one. i'm in the UK.
