Hi there,
I was just wondering what the differences are in things such as performance, driveability and also fuel economy? I still am unsure on what to go for as my new daily driver! Any views are greatly apprieciated. Also if any one knows of any golfs for sale it would be a great help!
Thanks
Dipesh

lmao
i recon they should be merged to a  24v then we can all be happy, however that works
people will only really argue for whatever car they have

make your own mind up.
next you'll be asking us if 'lexus' lights are cool

depends what your daily driving is. if its just in & around towns then 8v is grand. but if it involves long stretches of country roads then the extra 8v's are wanted
personally id just buy a 16v and have best of both worlds. 16v's rock

I think it'll be most likly a 16v because i want the little bits like electric windows etc... the search goes on....

you can get leccy windows etc in an 8v! just go and test drive both and you will notice the difference either way both are fun!
-
yeah, my mates has them but i'd say 90% of the ones i'm looking at dont! Thanks for your comments people

All depends on how much you like changing gear! If you catch a 16v off the cam when you put your foot down you won't go anywhere for a while unless you drop a few cogs. With the 8v you can accellerate quite well in 5th at 30mph. That said, the 16v gearbox can take the extra abuse needed to get the most out of it. Both are great although I am starting to see the limitations of my comparatively "stock" 8v.
Variable valve timing would be handy....
