Hi everyone,
This problem only started today, started off sounding like a general fairly quiet ratting noise coming somewhere from underneath the back of the car...
A while later, the rear right wheel is making intermittent squealing noises! Its an extremely loud squeal, it sounds just like the squeal that trains make :/
Its not a constant squeeling, just on and off very quickly, not normally longer than 2 seconds. Small bumps in the road seem to set it off, but it can happen just randomly too.
Its generally starting to sound pretty bad and grindy back there as well. Everybody is looking at me like i'm mental...
Any ideas what this could be?
thanks a lot!!!

check wheel bearings and calipers (both common faults)

thanks, any idea how much wheel bearings cost to get replaced?
I've also noticed it doesn't happen at all on the motorway, its only happening below about 30mph.
Cheers

take wheel off and check for stones between brake disc and the metal cover thingy behind it. I had a 1cm sized stone get in there on my front o/s wheel and the noise was terrible. took wheel off, poked around, stone fell out, put wheel on, noise gone, £0 spent! Worth a check
