Title: Hello from Aberdeen - Fabia vRS/Bora 4mo S3
Post by: Yohan on 08 September 2011, 12:06
Hello all,

I haven't really created a proper introduction thread for myself so here's my attempt to change that

Up until recently I owned a Skoda Fabia vRS which is quite possibly the best car I've had the pleasure of owning. It's cheap to tax, cheap to insure, cheap to run, and nothing goes wrong with it!

In standard form they are quite nippy having the PD130 engines and certainly torquey and before I started modifying it further I wanted to get a benchmark.

To cut a long story short, it's had a whole load of modifications fitted including a hybrid turbo and then a custom map by R-Tech.

After over 2 years of ownership I felt it was time for a change and had the urge to go back to something petrol powered which ended up with me owning this.

While the V6 engine was great (epic sound), it was just far too slow and thirsty for me so it was time for a change.

Part of the reason I bought the V6 model was for the benefit for the 4motion system which I could've used several winters ago.

So with the help of some friends and the information available on forums, the V6 was replaced with a 1.8T AMK from an S3 that had only covered 26,400 miles before some gimp flipped it on it's head

Unfortunately this picture is quite out of date but it shows the car more or less at it stands just now.

The modification list is extensive, everything has been replaced, and it has just about every bolt on a 1.8T can have with the exception of new manifolds, turbo and so on.

The car is currently down at R-Tech getting a custom stage 2 map to help lug the Bora's fat ass around

So no I don't own a GTI (and never have) but hopefully I can still make myself useful around here

Thanks,

John

Hello mate.

Welcome to boragtiforum golfgtiforum!!!

Monday is the day for Bora power!!  I have all day planned to get a huge bulk of the mapping done and to get the torque curve how you want it... Then the rest of the week fine tuning and playing with you map extras.... How about bring the 1st person on the UK to have launch control on a haldex system? Your map is 1mb and I can get it working, Dan only had 512kb map which had one of the LC setting maps missing.

Thanks Nick.

Bora power sounds awesome, can't wait!

As for the torque curve, as long as it comes in as early as possible and holds for as long as possible

Launch control sounds amazing, you'll have to teach me how to work it
