Right, I've got an idea. I'm thinking as I still havn't got my car running, think I know I know what it is, but after that still need rust sorting out and get it mot'd. I'm debating about whether keeping it sorned through out winter, instead of getting it insured tax and mot'd and the fuel I'll be using and put that cash towards a supercharger. I've already got megasquirt anyway, 280mm breaks, suspension sorted etc. It's been of the road for a year now, chirst knows how as looking back the megasquirt was actually easy lol
I'm thinking I'm going to spend a bit at the bodyshop. Dads mate does it so hoping it'll be cheap, but don't really want to go ruin it again by driving it through the winter.
Could I get it supercharged for the price of insurance considering I'tll be close to a grand even on classic insurance.
200bhp would do me, without getting an lsd, but may do if it's too bad. It's a 9A atm.

Get the bodywork sorted out before you piss your money away on a supercharger.
Do not build your house on sand, but on rock!

Sand doesnt compact, so building your house on sand isnt a bad idea

Sounds like a sweet idea mate  can easily be done under a grand with the mods you have already.. What gearbox you running ? You will need a better clutch.. M45 eaton charger will do 200bhp my old mini with this charger had just over 200bhp.. All you need mainly is bracket making up.
-
Yer the bodys being done regardless, need it done to pass mot! Plus it'll just get worse.
Erm think I've got a 020 box just a standard kr gearbox rod change.
For under a grand! Sounds like I might do it then. So I won't need to touch the internals then or nothing. Think my clutch was brand new last year, only driven it prob a thousand miles on it so could probably sell that.
I've seen a 16v g60 and all the manifold was the same as what I've got, just looked like the charger was the only difference.
Seen m45;s for like £350 46k mileage, do I need to change my manifold so the tb's on the right?
-
Standard internals should be fine on low boost but dont quote me on this.. im not sure about TB placement.. M45's you can pick up cheaper than that if you keep your eyes peeled for a while on ebay and the forums and a uprated pulley is only £120.. its fine buying a charger but its finding someone to fabricate up the bracket for it to go on to still fit a belt..

if you can find an m62 for the right money it would be better than the M45 due to lower charger rpm but M45 will do.
it will be hard on the gearbox as it'll want to make lots of torques

yer your right Danny but m62's cant be had for what m45's can and the difference on this car wouldnt make much of a difference as atm hes not looking to touch internals
-
just saying if an m62 turned up at the right price it would make a nicer and quieter solution
-
Yer your right

Thanks for the advice,
thats the one I found for £350
So would I need to lower compression or anything, or just literally, put the supercharger on?
-
OOORR iof my engine is knackered, someone thinks it may have a bent valve, so if so I'll put in a new engine.
He's got an abf lump with throttle bodies with ms2 fully opened up with all the features, basically put it in and turn the key for £550, and I can sell my ms1 so maybe like £450, does that sound good?
-
£550 for a turn key setup of ABF MS2 and ITB's that is the direction i would be trunedling if i were you i much prefer MS2 to MS1
-
That's what I'm thinking, save me posning around with my car, seems like a steal, the blokes helped me out loads with my ms etc hes testing my injector rail for me and said if it's fine then most prob a bent valve.
Whats the going rate for a engine conversion not at a garage? As I cannot be bothered to spend more months on my car lol
-
Well I've bought it :D Looking forward to a 7 hour trip to scotland  were going to take it out together so ive got an idea of how to put it back in and take my engine out.
I'm not even sure if my engine is broke, and unknown mileage lol Man said it had around 130k on it, how much would that sell for if it had a bent valve? I'll sell my ms1 too so hopefully the conversion will costs only around £250  it comes with bike carbs, not installed, so may sell the carbs.
