Which one? The original engine that put out 13bhp on the rollers or the custom built one they dropped in it?

Yeah I did wonder that myself! Seems like a lot of work for not much peak power :undecided:

Am I right in remembering he just got into the 17's at the pod?

Campervan crisis was really good but years old now.

I believe the engine building company went bust ages ago.

It's what I've heard on a couple of camper forums. All told the build stood him at a reported 22K!!!

After watching the programme it was disappointing to see how little he actually did himself, in my opinion.

Although the aggressive time frame probably dictated that he had to sub out most things

I think it was last weekend but cant remember rightly, Discovery Turbo had some kind of vw beetle or something weekend and showed the whole Beetle Crisis series back to back plus some other vw stuff including the 2 part wheeler dealers with the beetle restoration. good stuff :)

There was another beetle crisis aswell with the bloke from the engine place restoring beetle for his missus.
Very piccy and pointless i thought though, he was making every single part underneath smooth like you would not believe.

Like Wayne said, check the titles for a date, I think it was 95' or summat like that.

The beetle looked crap too.....

I can't believe people are saying £10k for an extra 102bhp is expensive....   It costs at least £100 to get 5bhp from the mk4 2.0

b.t.w how many power magnets can you get with that kind of ££?  :undecided:

not saying its expensive for an extra 102bhp.
on some engines that would be considered cheap.
but it is expensive for something with the same power as an 8v gti

2006 i believe.... Buses With Attitude wasn't founded/launched until 2002 so couldn't possibly have been before then...

Surely 10k would bought a much more powerful Porsche engine conversion?  :undecided:

Where's the fun in paying someone else sh!t loads of money to build you a slow unreliable engine?

I believe from the threads on SSVC forum it made over 130bhp + lots of torque

The only thing I didnt like on that beatle was them wheels. They said it was euro but where were he bbs's?
Apart from that though 6months was a good effort from them, I dont think ad take on that much of a project.

He did not want a Porsche engine from what I have read.

That was just an example and I'm sure you get my drift anyway mate. I did watch the series and did think it was good but some of the ways he went about the renovation confused me.

I did read his build thread and it took lots of sorting afterwards.

Also I doubt he paid a lot for the engine or some of the work as it would be free advertising in a way.
