From our American Friends. Looks good for replica's!

He says they are bi-xenon, but they have a separate projector main beam where the indicator should be.
If they looked like OEM, I think they would be worth a look, but as they don't it will be obvious that they are not the real thing.
-
Never going to get like for like in terms of quality and looks but for us halogens guys and girls that want xenons will have to drop our standards!
-
I don't understand why if they are going to the trouble of making reps, why they can't at least make them look like OEM.
I'd rather stick with original halogens, than obviously fake xenons. Save my money, and make sure that my next car has the real deal.
-
That's an excellent idea in my opinion, you've got the two seperate projector lights which does away with the need for CECM upgrades and pitch and yaw sensors by not requiring a shutter on the projector lens or electronic auto headlamp adjustment.
It looks fairly OEM too and I'm sure if you put in a silver painted indicator bulb you'd not spot the little light in the middle unless you were really looking for them.
10/10 for me and if available in RHD I'd buy some.

Just realised that these are more or less identical to the ones posted up by Doc in the xenon thread.

I'd originally assumed the the Doc ones above were just replica OEM Xenons until I fully read the Vortex thread and understood how they work. Interestingly the Doc ones above are $250 plus whatever else you get hit with and the US ones are $800 so you'd have to be sure the build quality was 100% as there are probably plenty knock off shops selling this stuff all over the Far East. Either that or the guy on Vortex is making a tidy profit!!
And I've just made a new friend:
Dear Andy,
Good day !
Thank you for your interested in our products !
For our headlight kit , it needs special to make for UK.
The MOQ is 10 pairs .
I hope I will become your best friend from China !
We are looking forward to establishing longterm business relationship with you soon !
Thank you very much !
Best Regards,
Amy

That is the same ones as on the votex forum! That guy is ripping them off it seems lol! If I could just buy them from a seller in the UK I would but I can't trust buying from overseas :undecided:
You can adjust the beam out put manually Andy on each unit so RHD shouldn't be an issue.
Tell Amy we want pics first!!!

I'm a bit worried she won't want to be my best friend if I ask her for pics of herself!!

She'd be your second wife!
Amy and Andy would make a good pair. A Chinese bride on the forum.
I think Amy's projector hooters look very good and they are as cheap as a take-away.
How much would the whole caboodle cost? Tell her I'd even pimp for her if her bits do the job.
Am interested.

Hi guys,
I have been looking into replacing my halogens with these OEM looking headlamps with the LED DRL. Firstly I have spoken to the supplier in China who makes the ones they are selling on Vortex. He told me they are $430..which way less then the guys on the forum is selling them. But keep in mind there is a minimum number of units to buy and that doesn't include postage. But I asked the supplier if he makes these for RHD but he said no. Said it would cost too much and that they would have to make a new mould, which is hard for them as they only have LHD cars in China to copy from.
Anyway...glad I saw this thread as I hadn't come across these headlamps which Amy is flogging. If they are definitely suitable for RHD I would be in anyt group buy. Are they also LowBeam Xenon and Highbeam halogen?
Cheers
Ian

A couple of things I have noticed looking at these lights.
1. The indicator looks very small, especially being so close to the xenon dip beam projector. This may not be as noticable when the headlights are on, compared to the large indicator on the OEM light.
2. Where are the parking lights? I assume then will be the array of bright fairy LED's? If this is the case will you be able to code them as DRL's without having tail and number plate lights on? Then if they are coded as DRL's will they still work as (very bright) parking lights?

Andy, any news from Amy?
-
No more news, been busy the last few days and not spoken to Amy again. At the end of the day we need 10 people to sign up to buy an untried product from half way around the world that doesn't have any E markings on the headlamps.
Now if I could order one set as a guinea pig I'd happily do so, but I'm not taking responsibility for 10 items that may or may not work by the time they've been shipped to the UK and who knows how they'd honour any sort of guarantee?
And from reading the vortex forum, It seems that the LEDs act as parking lights.
-
I like the look of these - a good solution. But I bet they aren't E-marked.
Remember if you're buying some you'll pay import duty and VAT, together adding 25-30% to the price.
1. The indicator looks very small, especially being so close to the xenon dip beam projector.
Agreed - there might not be enough separation between the main projector and the indicator for them to show up clearly with the headlamps on. I see other cars with this problem, but the Mk4 Golf xenons have them in the same place and seem to be okay.
-
On the vortex thread someone said their indicator bulb wasn't working and that it was a huge great big thing (or words to that effect).

Mk4 xenons have double indicators for this very reason.

I suppose one saving grace (despite the fact the replicas in this thread will fail an MOT) is the wing mirror indicators are quite visible as back up to the headlamp indicators.

May I make a suggestion?
All interested party's chuck in a tenner each and order a LHD $250 set to see what they are like build wise etc and also see if we can adapt them to RHD or at least not LHD (very easy with a dremmel), if they are good negotiate a discount on the $250.
I'll provide support in the fitting if said test subject wants to come over
I'd also say if we can get them to work that the test subject gets his set for the £10 quid
I'll be first on the list to chuck in a tenner.
1. The doc
-
Good idea Doc but from my past experience with members on this forum, even £10 might be a 'bridge too far'! £10 will need more than 20 interested parties and there seem to be fewer than this number who are interested.
I think you should be the 'bank' and £30 per person would reduce the numbers required to approximately 8 but even this will probably be like drawing blood out of stone.
Sadly, I can see the whole thing falling flat just as it did when I negotiated discounts for BBS wheels.
2. £10 rising to £30 if so required.

Count me in guys. Except I am in Australia. But I have a UK address which I can have the headlamps sent too if I do the group buy.
