Title: Strange noise on lift off, slow speed.
Post by: nc35 on 06 September 2011, 21:47
Hi All

Just wondering if it's anything to worry about.

When pulling out at a junction, and accelerating and then lifting off I get a strange noise.  A bit like pressure being released.

Any idea what it may be peeps???

What you are describing may just be a little excess pressure from the turbo being released. It is quite normal on turbocharged cars (although the GTI is very quiet in standard form) and can be made more audible through the installation of aftermarket air intake systems or aftermarket atmospheric blow off valves.

Yep had a dodgy DV on my MK5, but it doesn't really sound like that. Still only done a few k so will keep monitoring.

Think the steering rack is also creaking.
