Title: The MX5 has been TONA'd!
Post by: Horney on 05 September 2011, 18:21
Guy came over today to give the MX5 a treat so I can keep it in tip top shape over the winter months. Top job as always from Mr Frankland.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Looks crackin chaps! how did you get on with the water spots Guy?

this was dealt with in another session

i managed to polish them out, then seal and protect the paintwork

unfortunately it looks like the paint was beyond help and that the pigment had failed... so Nick decided that a home brew spray and lacquer session was in order

i polished the bonnet yesterday to try and bring it back up, unfortunately the lacquer was as soft as ice cream as it hasn't cured properly, so it was very difficult not inflicting more swirls in than I was taking out... we got there in the end though!

Pardon my ignorance but why is the nose "matt" looking compared to the rest of the car?

Have you got some anti stone chip film on?

What are you using as lsp? looks good

2 coats jetseal 109
1 coat autosmart wax

will be followed up with more coats of nicks dodo juice wax
Title: Re: The MX5 has been TONA'd!
Post by: tg1 on 10 September 2011, 15:00
would that give noticeably better beading than 2 coats of fk1000? as the beads i get dont seem to be that small?  :embarassed:

think imight have to try topping it with some wax then i reckon see if that tightens up the beading.
