Title: Anyone actually work for VW?
Post by: FOREST GREEN on 04 September 2011, 18:22
Bit of a random one this, but I'm after some advice and wondered if anyone on here actually works for VW.

I'm about to get a new car, and the choices are as follows...........

1. new VW Touareg (base model @ £42k otr)
2. new VW Amorak (fully loaded @ £30k otr)
3. new VW Kombi Sportline (fully loaded @ £35k otr)

Basically, I need to be able to get on/off construction sites, so ground clearance is important (I know the Sportline is lowered, but its still higher than your average car). I do @ 1500 miles per week, so comfort is a must. I hate autos (the Touareg only comes in auto, but I could live with it) and I would need to take clients out in it twice a week.

I have no real knowledge of any of these 3 vehicles so I don't know what to look for with respect to the reliability side of things??

Any input guys would be appreciated..............

Toby

For the work you are doing then it has to be the Touareg but get a mk2.

I like the AMORAK!

Good for the family, good on a building site and good price!

Yes, but not that practical for a family car though

Eh?

However not?

Single and adjustable position seats (to stop them fighting)

Big boot for all the child slurry

Nice high driving position for the Missus.

Diesel, so fuel economy not terrible.

No longer than something like a Passat estate.

4WD for safety and winter traction.

I really, really don't see what's not to like, except maybe the price.

Amorak looks like 'I shot for a Hilux and missed'.  Nasty brashy rubbish.

Quote
standard model at € 34.545 (+VAT), “Expedition” € 42.490 (+VAT)

Pricey, but then the 16" T25s that were made are still very much with us and highly capable off-road.  They were super-expensive when new as well.  If I had the means I'd be there beating down my local VW Commercial dealer's door, demanding the Rockton package under a California 4Motion - that would be so many orsums it would out Chuck Norris Chuck Norris.

Looks very basic inside though...........no creature comforts, ie, carpet, sound deadening etc and I bet its a bastard to heat in the winter too!!

I'll bet it has plenty of sound-deadening and is pretty civilised.

No carpets is great - just hose out afterwards.

If you've not experienced the heating in a VW van from T25 onwards, then you won't realise how wrong you are about the heating!  T4s actually had Eberspachers fitted to them to provide big heat before the engine warmed up.  Look at the popularity of VW vans in the arctic circle and you'll get the picture regarding heating.  IIRC the spec actually lists out an auxilliary heater, as well.
