Title: DSG issues
Post by: DubaiGTI on 04 September 2011, 17:01
My much loved DSG box appears to be playing up today.  The car has less than 6.000km on the clock.  I do admit I tend to drive the car quite hard and spend most of the time in Sport mode.  Worth mentioning also, I did a Revo Stage 1 upgrade not too long ago.
No gearbox issues up until today.  The car is now missing gears and can shake when pushed hard.

I will take the car to VW tomorrow.  Probably best to flash the car back to normal to avoid any warranty issues?

Pain in the a*se.

Anyone else had similar problems?

Thanks

Whats it like in D mode ? It could be a mecatronic unit overheating ? But it sounds like you thrashed the arse out it

I did.. but no dsg for me. I know some remap providers will change the dsg map for you also. Hurdy was running silly bhp through his dsg box and it handled it very well with the new map.  :nerd:

How is he? It's a simple warranty claim isn't it?

Car is under warranty - so in the event it is serious it will be covered.

Taking her to the tuners tomorrow.  Will keep you posted.

Thanks for the replies.

When you say the newer DSG's, is the 6 speed DSG in the GTI not the same as in the Mk5? I thought it was only the 7 speed DSG boxes that weren't getting touched.

Well it wasn't a DSG fault after all - thankfully.  Fuel pump issue - AGAIN.  This is the second time.

Car is back and running as normal.

Thanks for the comments.

I don't understand how it can miss gears if its a fuel pump issue  :undecided: I will just put it down to electronics/programming doing odd things because of the fuel pump issue.  :undecided:

All fine now chaps and hopefully that's the end of it.

Back to Revo over the weekend to remap her again.  Feels rather slow after the stage 1 upgrade!
