hi all,
ive ordered some flo-flex poly bushes for the wish bone, as when im crawing (5-10mph) theres a creaking/knocking noise. i just had my tracking done and he checked the camber and said its bang on.
well my question was if i was to replace them poly buses will i need to re-track & camber the car? as i know khare had put his in but didnt say if he had tracked the car.
also is there a guide on how to do the bushes apart from burning them out and pressing the others in?

A full suspension geometry check should be done after any work carried out on it, especially when changing bushes.

but TBH having done this earlier in the year (and converted back!) - just get new arms with pre-fitted rubber bushes, much easier! http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=593 (http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=593)
Easiest way to do it, is to undo the lower strut mounting (strut->hub) and then push the hub up and tie (zip ties) to the bottom of the strut. Gives you the access to get the wishbones in easier.
(note there is a left & right part for the GTI, but same part for non GTI - see the pages)

why did you change back? i fitted mine in, was a doddle, smashed out the old ones and pressed the polys in, the ride is ALOT softer but my cousine says that it will get harder after a 100 miles or so.
now im after uprated droplinks and the uprated lower ball joints BUT will these be ok if i changed to the 2.9 vr6 engine???
i fitted flo flex bushes btw

Im confused, how can poly bushes be softer than the standard ones and possibly get stiffer with use? :huh:

the old original bushes were SOLID!!!! no movement on them at all, these bushes can be squeezed to an extent in you hands. but he said the ride will stiffen up :undecided:
but main question is can i get uprated droplinks and uprated ball joints?

Really, Ive only ever known them to get softer and deteriorate with age and use. Strange.
I'm sure you can get poly drop link bushes but Ive never come across any uprated ball joints as yet, no doubt there are some megabucks rosejointed track items available though.

think i have confused you guys, it is soft (theres to holes op each other in the rear bush) the car feels soft (not bouncy) and ALOT stiffer :grin: going around the corner
