Title: Any ideas??

Evening all

I had to break hard today in the 16v and whilst doing so I heard a loud sort of a clunking noise, as if something had just snapped :cry:.... Never had this before any ideas, has it happened to anyone else, what's on the way out??? Anything to look at immediately?? Safety wise...

maybe a broken engine mount? done that before

Drive about on some "private land"  :rolleyes:

Start, stop, accelerate, brake, full lock to lock etc...

Does it feel different to normal?

Have a good look in the engine bay and underneath.


Process of elimination if nothing obvious presents.

The car drives no differently to before it did this, turns,drives,stops all as it should.....

Nothing in the boot, but good idea...

I will have a look under it but think it will all be ok as no noise etc making me feel it was a one off, but it made a loud noise cos even the mrs heard it and said what was that, she thought id ran over something :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin:

Anything in the glove box etc? There is loads of sh!t flying about my car whenever I pull off, stop, corner or hit a bump

she's a beauty mate..nice work..!
just a thought..could it have been one of those daft brake pad shins pinging out?? Might have made the pads or the caliper slider clunk when under load?? long shot i know..but..??

On mine its the anti roll bar knocking.There is no play really i just happened to notice it sat a lot lower in the bush than the other side and is almost touching metal.
Had to bend my brake pad shims last week whilst checking out the rol bar, they made the brake pads rattle over bumps.
