Hi people
Just a quickie to get the ball rolling.......is there any difference in the dashboard undertays between a GTI,and non GTI??.I've accuired a GTI centre console, with the 3 gauge holes, with the intention of fitting it in my '83 1.1c....which has what i thought were the same "3 opening" undertrays as the GTI's i've seen.....but it does'nt want to fit,it seems to sit at least 30mm to far into the car, leaving a big old gap at the top!!
Am i missing something??......are there any variations in the undertrays?,or consoles?.....or mounting plates in the floorpan round gearstick?.....It could be butchered to fit,but i'm loathed to 'cos it should'nt need it......should it?? :undecided:
Any help,advice....or general abuse for being so thick will be greatley appreciated

I know that in 1982 the dashboard was upgraded, almost certainly to the type that you describe. I suspect the console that you have was fitted to the earlier style, with the under-shelf either side.
I'm not at home at the moment so I can't double check by looking at my one.
