Title: Will CV grease be ok?
Post by: Godzilla on 30 August 2011, 19:28
Going to grease up my tensioner tomorrow on my VR6.  I have a load of CV boot grease, will this be ok as I have read the grease needs to be able to withstand high temps and I have not got a clue if CV boot grease can take high temps?!

I think you need a high temp grease tbh.

CV grease will be fine mate. It is pretty much the same thing as a constant velocity joint will reach high temps anyway. LM grease is the usual for High temp, its just a bit lighter in colour though I believe

Thanks everyone.  Its just I had some CV grease in my garage but bought some high temp wheel bearing grease instead.....Just incase!

Easy job but a real s~it to put the bearing covers back on.....I am just hoping they will stay on.....Time will tell
