Title: Government E-petition For TAX Exempt Rule Changes - Please Sign
Post by: SoundillusioN on 30 August 2011, 14:10
Not quite VW related but it is if you agree about classic dubs of 30 years or more being eligible for tax exemption.

It always used to be for cars 25 years old. If that was the case, my Golf would only need taxing for another 4 years.

I've always thought that the current VED is unfair. Why should I pay £210 to drive a few hundred miles a year when my parents neighbough drives 60,000 miles in a Polo Bluemotion for free?

Thats why they tax fuel too, just to make sure they cover their bases!

Done.
Petition closes this time next year so there's plenty of time to add to the 5000ish people that've already signed it!

Agree, if your car uses more fuel you pay more tax, simples. Im no fcuking rocket sientist but it seems easy enough to me. Saving on endless books of tax disks printed for a start

Signed.....although there is a common misconception that any e-petition, on reaching 100,000 signatures, is discussed in parliment. In reality it is only eligible to be considered for discussion and can be easily dismissed without explanation. Kind of undermines the relevance of what people want changing.

after that read on the daily mail article i dont think much will happen to this ruling unfortunately, its the same as the bring fuel down petitions that crop up every so often it will simply fall on deaf ears.

I like this idea a lot as classic cars that are not eligible for tax exemption pay a fair amount and cars that do 1000s upon 1000s of miles a year pay their fair share, not hard is it,

Yeah I know but its better than being mute.

Worth a crack

more than a car doing 10k and weighs about 1 tonne

just isn't fair or reasonable to me
