Interesting, I'm not too clued upon the S3's or Golf R's, but I got this from the A3 wikipedia page, there's a section about the S3:
"Although dubbed "quattro", the S3 uses a different "on-demand" four-wheel drive system.[2] The Haldex Traction coupling adjusts the bias of torque distribution from the front to rear axle as grip requirements change - most of the time it operates as a front-wheel drive"

Could  be something to do with loss of power in the drivetrains?  :undecided:

they both use the same engine and drivetrain  :nerd:

I raced both of them too and wondered the same. It was yoyoing between gear changes. Maybe weight difference?

A £400 remap vs a few thousand £££ supercharger conversion and the TT-RS still beats it up to 100mph  :laugh:

only due to 4wd... and i would be my life on the TTRS having had more than just a remap

a good friend of mine had a supercharged m3 that he just got rid of... just shy of 600bhp. Not much out there that could live with that!
