Hi everyone,
I am just about to totally restore my 1990 Mk2 Gti 3dr 16v in Helios Blue....
I have managed to find everything needed to refit after the respray but cannot find anywhere the black foil/decal that goes around the tailgate window area :(
Does anyone know a contact or source for this item.....it's been deleted from VW dealers for many years I have found.
I would be extremely grateful for any suggestions!
Thanks in advance,
Duncan

I'd also be interested in one of these!

apparently gpc in luton do them, don't have a number but someone will, or there is a guy on ebay who sells them but they are non-genuine if that bothers you. i'll try to find him.......
-
Thanks guys...
I have been on to gpc already as they came up on a google....however, they have no stock and haven't done for a while :( I was banking on this as a last hope!
Joe, if you can find a fella on ebay I'd be very grateful. Original would obviously be best but if I have no luck I was thinking I'd have to get replicas made anyway (difficult).
Cheers again,
Duncan

i had a look but couldn't find one listed or of the completed items, but i swear i saw on the other day. i'll keep my eyes peeled

Nice one Joe, thanks!
I shall keep hunting too....

The guy who sells them on Ebay is "vwturbo_co_uk". He's not got any listed at the mo, but you can always email him via their contact link
I got some off him - good quality, look just like the originals. Only real difference is that it comes in 3 pieces (the original is one piece). Some geeky types seem to think this is a bad thing, as "it's not authentic"... personally I think it'll make it easier to fit
Anyway - hope that helps - let us know how you get on...
p.s. should mention - haven't actually fitted mine yet - my new tailgate is in Norfolk and I'm in Leicestershire, still saving up for petrol money (unemployed!).

That's great Iain - thanks so much!
I wouldn't mind it being in 3 pieces either really....I shall do my best to contact the chap on ebay and see what he can offer.
You have a nice looking car mate....let me know how the fitting goes and I'd appreciate a pic if you can manage one :)
Cheers,
Duncan
