From what i hear, Greenlight are awesome for insurance but personally I couldn't go with them as I don't have 2 years NCD yet as not been driving long enough! But I will try them again in the future.

I'm stuck with Elephant atm, purely because they're the cheapest I found for my Mk3 GTi 16v. But I would advise not going with them if you can help it! :)

Why? The reason I ask is that Admiral are the same company (as are Bell and a couple more), and they also for me are the cheapest quote for my cars (£485 for my 1.4 and £585 for my 1.9 - note that I haven't actually got insurance as all mine are sorned) so I had planned on going with them at some point (I'm still a learner but over 25 so I guess that *may* be cheap - certainly not found anywhere cheaper).

HIC are meant to be good, but they won't insure learners (not that this affects the original poster).

Chief :)

I pay £365 fall comp on my gti 8v.
thats with admiral. I'm 24, 4ync had licence from 17.

I payed £265 on my gti16v when I was 22, but because I moved 2 miles up the road it went up

your area can have a huge effect on price.

I've just got a quote from Adrian Flux, ALL mods and the VR6 conversion declared, car valued at £2000 and its £700 for the year.
Gonna shop around a bit but dont think thats too bad really.
Chris Knott would insure me if I bought a VR but wont if I've made my car a VR  Weird  :undecided:

I just renewed with Adrian Flux, and as your driving a mk3 its probably not worth much unless you have extensive or expensive mods, so your best off going TPFT. Thats what I had to do, though I'm 29, I've only been driving 4 years with 3 years NCB (no accidents, was a change in insurer mid policy), 3 points, all mods declared and went to declare the car worth about 800, but they said if I insured it for 750 it would bring it down alot. They were the best I could find for just over £600. Compared to 450 last year though and no change in circumstances.

HIC that I'd mentioned earlier are the sister company to Flux, and each of them like to fight it out for your custom on occasions, so by saying one has given you X deal, might make the other offer you a better Y deal. (HIC specialise in VW's judging by their posts on ed38).

I called HIC in January before I renewed with Adrian flux & they said they couldn't give me a quote cos I'm with Adrian flux and it would be like stealing customers???

thanks for all the comments. just an up date. took all the advice in to consideration and phoned greenlight insurance, hic who i was with a long time ago and thought was great ten years ago!!!!!!!!! The winner for me was Chrisknott.co.uk insurance.

With mods inc bbs rs722 refurbished, tinted windows, ebc turbo drilled and grooved discs and greenstuff pads Custom stainless exhaust. my quotes:-
Greenlight £459+ legal + breakdown.
Hic nearly £900 what a joke @ 28 clean license and 7yrs ncb
aviva £850 what a joke for a renewal.

chrisknott.co.uk matched greenlight but free legal and breakdown for £54 so winning total of £513.

Highly recommend them amazing attitudes and very helpfully hope i don't need to use it now!!!!!
