Title: arb drop links
Post by: Dan_GTi8v on 28 August 2011, 00:13
How do you remove the drop links from the anti roll bar, do they just bolt on? I can see what looks like a bolt from the drop link o the arb, but I cant tell if it is part of the link or the arb as its so rusted it looks like its all 1 piece?

cheers

they just slide on, with a bolt into the bottom arm, 10 min job, just lube the arb and droplink so the arb goes thru fully

Change them for Cast ones, not the welded cheap jobbies from ECP/GSF I had both go in a matter of weeks a few years back and poped the drive shaft cover each time .
Dead easy job, even easier if you have both wheels off and up in the air

I have read that there are two types. one that push and one that bolts. But I cant remember that well

edit: that might be mk4 lol I think mk3 are push.

Have you used wd40?

yep tried everything. I'm assuming the old ones are the same as the new ones, one end is a hole that fits to the wishbone with a bolt through it, the other end (which I cant get off) is threded with a bolt on the end. My only guess is they have rusted so badly the metal has stuck together

Mine were threaded. Spanner on it, hit LOTS with lump hammer. Lots of pen oil on it. More hammering. Then attacked it for about 10 mins with a spanner and it finally let go. Almost broke my finger when it did go.

Keep with it. Get angry at it.

Or hammer a screw driver between the rubber and arb to release the rust
