Ah the voice of reason.

I am sorry for not choosing the same vehicle as you and having a mind of my own.

S'pose I should have gone baa and followed the herd.

Its a diesel doesn't go too bad considering. Nips along at 70-80 no probs and 60mpg!! :smug:

Only bought as a daily(wanted something a bit different) while I sort out a lock up and a mk2 project.

Thinking of changing colour to a dark red in a matt finish and possible engine swap.

Ok it now seems its have changed to a daily/project

Can't remember the last time I saw one of these as a van!   Different it certainly is. Look forward to seeing more.

I feel a confession is in order. Unfortunately the wheels are reps not proper BBS' :embarassed: Haven't the money at the minute for real ones. Hopefully they will still meet with the approval of those who offered positive comments

Ok back to the van. Went on how many left and there are only 55 on the road according to that site. So not much chance of bumping into another one. Paint wise I'm toying with the idea of a Harlequin effect like on the limited edition Polo's of the 90's (I think). Started off thinking having it a darker matt red originally but to be honest I dont really know what route to take. Could always rat it :undecided:
Blimey and I thought women were indecisive

Title: Re: The van
Post by: andynorfolk on 09 September 2011, 19:44
i guessed they were reps aha but i'm still interested how much they were and where you got them from :P

i think a matt colour would look awesome, how about being a bit different and having it a matt blue or something like that
Title: Re: The van
Post by: Warby on 09 September 2011, 20:01
The wheels came from directalloys via Ebay. They were £320ish including delivery. Think they have a couple of sets left

Opinions needed.

Thinking of doing something similar to the van colour wise. Yes or no?

Title: Re: The van

No. I hate harlie paint with a passion.

Been done a few times, but never seen it on a van

theres a list somewhere of how they did the panels, you really need a 5dr for it to work best, and one of 3 bright base colours, think it was an aqua greeny colour, a red and a yellow.

and certain panels have to be certain colours to have it looking oem
Title: Re: The van
Post by: Warby on 10 September 2011, 19:38
So far opinions are what I was thinking. Possibly too much of one colour if I do it on the van. Just trying to find something a bit different :undecided:
Title: Re: The van
Post by: DanChave on 10 September 2011, 19:55
I think it could be pulled off if you painted the roof and sills a different colour to the quarters! Otherwise yeah, I think there would be to much red maybe.....

what about something like this?
you could pull off coloured centres too as your new wheels have some dish.

whatever you do you should definately get the black seal bit smoothed where the rear window used to be...
Title: Re: The van

I was gonna leave them as a feature
Title: Re: The van

I think it would look too smooth if the window seals were deleted maybe?
Title: Re: The van

i just think it stands out too much, i mean why do you need them if there's no rear window?

I know what you mean. I think that's why the golf vans tend to be a bit of a Marmite vehicle lol!
Title: Re: The van
Post by: Warby on 11 September 2011, 17:20
Well I like them and its my van!!

On a serious note I have seen them smooth and It looks too polished/finished. After all its a van. Also keeps the original van DNA having the black
Title: Re: The van
Post by: andynorfolk on 11 September 2011, 17:51
hmm i just googled some and you're right, i prefer it with the window seal actually aha

Jersey you idiot!!

The paints not black, the range is Montana black - a matte cour range.

That red looks sweet and I reckon if you could get US bits you could make a super sweet low as USA spec VAN. mind blowing.
