as the vr6 mk2 lost its appeal with the high price of fuel. they used to comand a good price but now days they are cheep as chips and dont seem to sell just my opinion but the cost of fuel really is a downer if you run a big engine

A lot of people play down the VR lump as being heavy and no good in a Mk2, so that may put people off.
Regarding the fuel, I get the same MPG from my 24v Mk4 that I used to get from my 1.8t AUQ mk4 Anni, so I think it's all down to personal preference.

I think the same applies to all the 6 cylinder engines tbh, 12 months ago you would see VR's fetching well over the 1k mark but nowadays you can pick one up for around £600!!!
Maybe it is the price of fuel thats putting people off but the difference between my VR and the 2.0l 8v lump I had before regarding fuel consumption for my daily commute is around £5 a week more........
I can live with that just for that VR sound if nothing else :grin:

its not just VW's 6 cylinders it is all big engined cars, v6 vectra's v6 mondeo's large engined low spec bmw's are all worthless now, so many people come in wanting to part exchange large engined cars and they are just worthless even struggle with 2 litre family cars now, however if your mileage is low then some mad bargins out there. got offered from a dealer a st24v x plate mondeo leather fsh done 80 for £300 needing an mot but just no market for it, and v6 rovers mg zt etc cant give em away. However fiesta's KA corsa's micra's are all making over book
Personally had a VR6 highline and yes noise was addictive but fuel costs 25mpg no thanks. now just run a mk3 cab 1.8 and any sales car with fuel in it and tax
older big engined l cars have had there day unless lpg

Even the makers of big luxury cars are reducing the number of models with big engines in favour of smaller turbo or super charged engines.
Its just down to the cost of fuel.

So although only £5 doesn't seem like much, after a year that £260. Which is a chunk of cash in anyone's book... or new tyres, service, cheap laptop. Or maybe its the difference between being able to enjoy a drink after work on a friday, or not.
I only do about 8000miles a year, but I'm considering going for a diesel next time round. Boring maybe, but then I already have an Audi estate :laugh:
