saying to put water up the vaccum pipe to clean the engine out, but thats eems crazy lol.

It's generally only crazy if you dump litres of water in at a time. If you do a measured amount whilst revving the engine and holding it at ~3k.

Only really recommended on a petrol as diesels tend to just choke up.
