Title: split breather grommet on 8v gti, big problem?
Post by: andynorfolk on 24 August 2011, 19:25
i'm ordering a new grommet on ebay as i noticed when checking the oil today it's split... is this a big issue or is it okay to continue driving til the new grommet gets delivered?

would this also explain a little bit of oil usage?

no big problem to carry on driving, you may find your idle may become erratic if its drawing in air will be resolved when you put your new one on.
if it was me i would take this oppertunity to take of rocker cover and clean the gauze inside for the breather it may sort your oil using problem if it was pressurising

the engine's just been fully rebuilt, done less than 4k miles aha
i can see where some oil has come out of the breather though so at least i know where it's come out from :)
