I changed the disc bearings and pads on my golf gti. Now when i release the handbrake handbrake light goes out then i start driving it comes back on and stays on.it never had this problem before. To make matters worse I changed the shoes and bearings on the rear drums on the missis golf cabrio the other week and the same thing happend to her car
Does anyone know where I`ve gone wrong.

Check the brake fluid level is set ok and there's a cover on top of the reservoir cap that can come off which releases the float to the top, you'll see it straight away when you open the engine bay.
If you have ABS on both cars is the ABS light on too?

I would guess that the ABS sensors are not replaced properly or still loose. Check these first and then see if the light goes out or scan for fault codes as ABS sensors show up. The ABS light may not be on as many cars have had the bulb removed by cheapskate previous owners who find popping the bulb easier than looking after the car !!!!!!

Mines doing the same. Is the abs light on aswell? Got mine scanned. Came up with major abs /speed sensor malfunction. What it was my newrear discs didnt come with abs sensor rings and by the time id got it scanned id thrown my old discs. Gsf new sensor rings pproblem sorted. Or it could be you have more than 1 abs/speed sensor out.
