Title: GTI MK3 screeching noises

MY 1992 8v gti makes a screeching/gurgling/clunking noise that sounds like noisy pipes in a house. It only makes the noise when the engine is warmed up and I've been sat in traffic for a while and lasts 30 secs to 1 minute. Noise also carries on if engine turned off so I'm thinking it may be to do with the fan.

Any ideas?

gurgling/clunking noises make me think cooling system. Maybe you have trapped air somewhere.
