Title: Driving experience gift
Post by: scarr89 on 21 August 2011, 20:26
Me and my bro bought the old man a driving experience for his bday last year, finally got round to going on it the other day! We had him down for 4 car, elise/scooby/911/430 and a hot lap in a caterham from a 'pro' driver. Dad managed to get it so that he drove the 911 and 430 and left the scooby and elise for me and bro to fight over! I let him have the scooby...So yea, had a brilliant time driving the elise round the track, only had 4 laps, really wanted more as I got so much more confident on each lap! Surprising how the handling really resembled my GTTDI  I would never buy one after the experience, ridiculous interior, I don't know how people drive em as everyday cars!!

Have also driven a 430 on another experience day, anyone else been on one of these before?

Going on my first one on thursday at knockhill with my dad. We've both wanted to go for years and finally had the chance so got him a ticket for his birthday and bought myself one too. got the single seater racing experience. should be an ace day

Just can't let him be faster or i'll never hear the end of it! haha

I done one recently, drove a Ferrari 360 & an Audi R8, really enjoyed it and would look to do another one.  I quite fancy the single seater one that they run at Silverstone, its a whole day and you get longer in the cars.

Did a lambo and evo one on Saturday. The evo was actually more fun, but that's because I'm 6ft5 and the lambo is about 2ft0 inside so I was slightly cramped. Mental brakes though. Awesome day and would like to do one at silverstone next me thinks.

The best Bang 4 Buck ones are in a Formula 3, they do them at rockingham, i think you have about 1hour track time in Fiesta ST, Formula Ford and then an F3.

i drove a ferrari f430 and then the GTR and that was awesome. did about 8 laps in total for £60! missus found some vouchers and got a really good deal at everyman racing.
the GTR was immense and they let me overtake other drivers too.

I really really want to drive a GTR!! I over took an Aston while driving the lotus   Guy in the passenger seat 'give him loads of space, more, more, more than that!' I was about 6 foot away...was pretty hairy!

Yup...did a Ferrari day...but I find them a con...too much restriction and also the day all depends onthe quality of the track that you are at. Choose a good track and proper time out and prep from the organisers. Means you have a better time out there.

The "thrill ride" was in an Elise and I sat there bored and the speeds in the corners was down from my tweaked Gti. The guy didn't like me asking if it would do any better

Would consider another for £60 but some buggers want over £200 for 10mins in the car

Got my brother one of these last year driving a DB9 at the Prodrive track in Warwick, he loved it and it was only £85! I got chatting to one of the blokes involved with the event, he said he and a lot of others actually loan out their own cars to these events!  Said it was a good way to get a car you really want for very little cost? I don't think i'd be letting anyone with a driving licence drive my supercar????
I always thought all the cars were owned by the event companies but apparently not.
