I got an e-mail through from VW offering £39 MOTs and servicing for £129 (minor) and £329 (major) for Volkwagen cars (up to 2 litre engines) aged 3-10 years old. As my Bora was due its MOT next week I booked it in.
All I can say is the service was superb, and it has prompted me to book in for a service next month. I have added their name to the Good Guys list as I genuinely cannot fault them. I reckon they've been sorely lacking in service numbers due to the economic downturn and the bosses have launched this offer to try to get more people in.
Has anyone else taken VW up on their half decent offer? Am impressed.

I dont think its all that great tbh. 129 quid to change oil and filters, and a couple of checks and greasing routines. You can do all that for less that £50 using parts and oils from the dealer anyway. :undecided:
EDIT; should have read the title properly, thats obviously if you do your own servicing.

if you dont know how to service a car or youre a woman, then paying for a service can be a bit steap
although i agree with the top post, generally, ive not had a problem with vws customer relations, very polite and helpful, and dont try and force you to spend unecessary money

Service due on mine very soon, I was also thinking of taking it in

It's not that I don't know how to service my car - I have a project in the garage (non-VW) which takes up a lot of time, and as the Bora is an everyday car I don't have the time to devote to it. The local VW specialist charge a similar amount to what VW are charging now, they aren't open at the weekend and they won't give you a lift to work for free either.
Yes you get the stamp in the book too but I'm not sure exactly how much clout that will have when I eventually come to sell it!! In my book it's a no brainer.

I'm pretty good with cars also but these days want to be doing less, I have extensive history with mine so I think its worth continuing having it serviced at VW

I would sooner use a local garage I know and trust tbh.

just has mine MOT'd at dealers or £39 and only failed on track rod end which i got fixed outwith the dealers as not paying £83 quid for something that costs £13,but i'm getting my Beissbarth 4 wheel geometry done there.

My local VW dealer
Free MOT for life, as we bought the car from them
Minor service £80
Major service £170
The older the car gets, the cheaper it becomes. My old V reg mk4 turbo cost £38 quid for the minor service
