Title: Footwell Lighting Issue
Post by: mrDMH on 19 August 2011, 22:23
Hello,

Gone to replace my footwell lights for red LED's today, fitted one works fine..

fitted the second and it wont come on, and it also cuts out the first one after 5 seconds. If i put one normal and one LED in they work fine..

Is this a voltage issue, wrong bulbs?

I did check the other bulb and it works fine!

Try swapping it around so it faces the other way? With LED bulbs they need to be installed the right way around to work, it's really easy to mix up.

That'll almost certainly be the issue

Looks like you were right!

However, has anyone noticed that since changing to LED in the footwell, the lights only stay on for about 5 seconds rather than until lights are switched off or engine ingited?

Very weird, they are both working but don't stay on very long!!! Only long enough for a glance then they go off, other lights stay on fine.. Hmm :(

Did this on mine too - only on the footwell lights too, not the overhead ones. Never got to the bottom of it but suspect they weren't compatible with the canbus or something.

Aha! Sounds like you might be right, is there such a thing as canbus friendly LEDs?

These are the ones I have got in mine:

They stay on as long as the other lights.

The only slight issue (if you can call it that) is that they flicker when you turn the ignition on. But fine after that.
