Post by: fin170703 on 17 April 2005, 15:04
hi all. My nans golf 1300 is got a leak problem everytime the car is left out she returns to have soaking rear carpets ( rear passenger

foot wells) if the car is left inside the garage its fine. the window rubbers seem fine and there is no water marks on the rear door

cards. The car has no rust its mint, only 31,000 miles on the clock not bad for a f reg,. is this a common fault on mk2's. Any help

would be great

May be rear washer pipe leaking???

i would start by removing the carpet and looking underneath it to see if you can trace its start if there is a stain u could follow it to the socrce of the leak

Take the rear door cards off and check the plastic membranes are watertight, and check the rubber seals round the rear doors.

Also sit in the back and get someone to run a hosepipe over the rear and see if you can find any obvious leaks.

A Mk3 I once owned had a leak coming from a hole in the fllor plan, where there should haver been a rubber bung. I looked as if the hole was there to mount the car on a jig during manufacture/spraying. The bung had rotted away. Lift all the carpets up and see if you can find the source!

check the fromt door cards cos commonly they leak and the water flows to the back cos the back is a tad lower(slopy floor pan)
