Title: help needed on meters squared
Post by: 1stevester1 on 19 August 2011, 00:51: i got a an exam tomorrow and got a practice booklet and the answers but for the life of me carnt work this one out

side of the garage is 6 meters the front 4 meters answers 30.1 now i said 24 but am i being thick or ????

How can one wall have 3 measurements???

Does it look like this:

0.5

4.0 / . | 3.5
/ . |

2.0

Just draw a vertical line down from the red dots to make a triangle and a square. Work out the area of both. Add them together. Then you have the correct area of the garage.

length of the wall given as 8.6m multiplied by the height of the wall given as 3.5m comes to 30.1m²

good luck with the exam....sounds like you'll need it :wink:
