Just for reference, for numpties who think they're cool. This is from another forum I frequent:
one of our group members had the german euro style plates on his uk car, the german police have impounded his car and destroyed his plates , given him a 500 euro fine and will not let him have his car back till he can produce the correct uk style plates
Just FYI, like.

No, as that's a UK style plate and a UK registered car.
-
mmm don't think it is a uk style plate.
-
mmmmm, GB on the left and it's an orange rear plate? That's UK style. Pressed letters isn't unique to Germany, many places have them or have had them.
-
You might want to look at the bit between the 3rd and 4th letters. That isn't UK spec, and will get you pulled and either a fine or told to change them. Or in the germans case, your car will be staying abroad that little bit longer.
-
Most days I see characters or spacings that aren't UK spec. It does make you wonder how they get away with it.
-
The Porsche looks like an english plate made to look German :undecided:
-
Exactly. It's an orange rear with what looks like GB on the left.

The details on the MID are: Vehicle Make/Model:
PORSCHE GT3

Hence why my German font plates now live in the shed and the legal pressed ones grace my Golf
