i have been looking around the forum for over an hour and seem to have made a list, i love the car and has many memories so wont sell up and buy a VR! :grin: cheeky enough.
due to me having the mk3 8v anniversary, i have 288mm brakes etc etc
anyway this is the list i have made a list, which consists of:
ENGINE
GEARBOX
ENGINE LOOM
ECU
KEYCHIP
TRANSPONDER RECIEVER
HYDRO CLUTCH (clutch pedal, spring & master cylinder)
SPEEDO/CLOCKS
MANIFOLD
DOWNPIPE
DRIVERS SIDE ENGINE MOUNT
VR6 RAD+FAN
GEAR LINKAGE
DRIVESHAFTS??-will my 8v drive shafts do?
is there anything else i will need?

p.s will the rado 2.9 engine, loom, basically everything from a rado fit my mk3?

you dont need to change driveshafts mate they are all the same
rado set up would work and be a good find too :wink:

Not sure if the loom would work as the Corrado is based on a mk2.

:undecided: I seem to remember RJ saying that not a lot would swap from a Corrado

fuse box is the same, its a CE2 fusebox like on MK3 so should plug in just fine, theirs only like 3 plugs that need removing to get the old engine loom out and then those 3 will plug back in from the donor loom

not probs matey, its the early mk2 (i think) and MK1 that has problems - CE1 fuse box i think on those, maybe some of the other older VWs have these too

so basically the rado loom can go straight into my fusebox or do i need to change it to the rado one??
no point in doing the 2.8 convo as everyone is doing it and with a 2.9 im getting 190bhp & i will get the flywheel lightened!!! saving up now. so far ive got £50 saved :grin: jokes

Corrado was 194bhp and finding a donor car will not be easy.

oh yeah, i know a guy in derby that breaks rados and he has a mint engine for sale but thing is that its already out and i remember khare saying that "its best to hear the engine running before you buy it"
he said that its had over 4k spent on the engine and the timing chains have been done rrecently too as it has tons of papers with it.

crossmember is same no need to change
if you trust the guy - or its a good company, no need to hear it running, he should give you some form or waranty anyhow..
how much is the engine and whats it come with ?

well i spoke to him today and he said that he has stripped some parts from the engine (inlet & starter) but i sadi im thinking about doing a conversion and told him what i need and he said that i will need the cross member as the engine sits at a slight angle or more to one side cant remember. but he said £200 for just the engine and i told him to give me a price on the full worx so he said he going to get back in touch with me later. (still wiating) his a brill guy as i was after the black interior light and we was talking for quite a while (over the phone) and sounded like a realy top bloke. but before i buy it i will check it out properly. he did say that he was thinking of putting it in his car (maybe a way to sell something??) :undecided:

its sits ever so slightly down to one side but you wont notice it, take a look at bens pics of his we did - if his price is right by all means take the cross member too

ye i saw a BATTERED cat D for sale yesterday and the engine does sit slightly at an angle. also when you did bens convo is there LOADS of space at the back of the engine like you can get your hand in there WITHOUT any hassle (compared to your old engine and mine?)
what do you i should pay for the engine kells?
also when i pop down dews im gonna link your A$$ up!! :grin:
i even got my cousine (with the 16v) to check this site out and his always on about your mk3 and says its just "UNIQUE & MINT!!!"

as for a price, it would depend what the spec of said engine is in and miles on it etc
We bought a full car for Bens conversion, a Highline with black leathers, leather doorcards, black ABC pillars etc, he paid £400 for it and obviously the interior is worth £250/£300 with the door cards then theirs all the other bits, pl;us he had the clocks, look, g/box etc
so procewise that would be my limit for a VR and id want everyhting fpr that price (clocks,loom.gbox etc) only new bits you wanna be buying are the engine mounts and service parts
would be nice to meet you, its also nice to hear your cousin likes my car, tell him thanks :wink:

where you manage to find that? id love to get a highline but just my luck!

I found the highline on here believe it or not, told ben, and off we went to Newcastle to get it, ironically same area as where my S3 engine came from haha

Yes the VR crossmember is different, I believe an 8V will fit however.

he did say the chains have been replaced, as he has PLENTY of paper work with it.

thats realy cheap any luck for me thoe wayne? i think im getting carried away with this vr thing! i need to save more money before i get anyone to keep an eye out for a RADO 2.9 so just going to give it a little while + EID is less then 2 weeks aswell
