Title: Fuel Price Petition PLEASE SIGN
Post by: raptorSE on 16 August 2011, 11:48
Dear FairFuelUK Supporter,

The battle for cheaper petrol/diesel prices is at a crucial stage. 10 days ago, the Government made a new on-line facility available to get issues that concern the public aired in the House of Commons. Consequently, If 100,000 citizens sign our petition on the Government's new ePetition site then the issue of cheaper petrol/diesel will be debated in Parliament.

This morning, our petition on the Government site has reached 36,000 signatures. We need a further 64,000. Our own FairFuelUK petition  at www.fairfueluk.com has 200,000. However, these campaign supporters unfortunately do not count towards the ePetition on the new Government site. It is absolutely vital that we get to 100,000 within a few weeks. The only petition ahead of us is the one relating to the recent riots.

If you have already signed our petition on the Government ePetition site – thank you! Please try to encourage other friends, colleagues and contacts to do the same by forwarding this email.

If you haven’t signed, please do so NOW at http://bit.ly/Ff**k-Gov . Failure to hit 100,000 will set the case for lower taxes on fuel back years.

Please remember, every signature really counts. It really does!

Very kind regards,

The FairFuelUK team

PS: If you use Twitter, please follow us at www.twitter.com/FairFuelUK . The @FairFuelUK account has over 100 MPs and Politicians already following our campaign for lower fuel prices. This means that your tweets will be seen by these decision makers if your follow us.

PPS: If you have any problems signing up to the Government's ePetition website, please go to www.fairfueluk.com/epetitionproblems.html

The FairFuelUK campaign is supported by the RAC (7 million members) and the two bodies that represent the UK road freight industry, the RHA and the FTA. Between them the RHA and FTA have over 20,000 members. The campaign also enjoys the support of approaching 200,000 members of the public. We are aiming to get 1 million on board as soon as possible.  Follow FairFuelUK on Twitter and Facebook

What other option do we really have in these stupid times of cut backs and increases in tax?

Sorry to be cynical but there is nothing anyone can do about it, we all need it, they know that and the rest is history.

Well thought I'd bump this topic as it's reached 100,000+ and will be debated.

Fingers crossed for sensible debate, rather than hysterical scaremongering that usually occurs from both sides.

Petition is a waste of time, even if it had 1 000 000 signatures then it would not change.
The only way to get the message across is to make more effort than going online and typing your name and e mail address.
You need to get on a bike, or walk more, and leave the car at home as much as possible.
My car has been sat on the drive since last Friday and I have ridden my bike to work.
Only fill up about once a month at the moment.

Petition is a waste of time
Have you signed it?

I have a 52mile commute each day. No suitable public transport and I'm a student, I could cycle it but I'd need to leave the night before and borrow someone elses lungs.

Not saying it'll make everything all better but it's better than nothing and doesn't require occupying stock exchange (I can't afford to get down to it)

Signed it , but they never bother to listen.

Look at the Iraq war protest. Well over a million in London for it, they still went to war, even though they knew Iraq posed no threat.

If there was a major fuel protest, like there was years ago, they may do something, but can not see that happening. Wasn't that over it reaching 100p? Oh how I wish it was that again now!

Really? what kind of laws?
Does not surprise me though, idiots, all line their own pockets not caring about us normal folk who can not afford the higher prices each year

Yeah you apparently need to inform them if you plan to assemble in numbers. Utter bollox. Don't get me started on this though.

I think democratic protest is best course of action, if this fails, then I'll be in the first wave to storm the barricades. Unless it's early than I'll be in the second wave.

But I think this is more my speed...

E-petitions do not work on this subject. Even if 100,000 signatures are reached does not mean it will be debated in HOC. It only means it becomes eligible for descussion and will more than likely be completely dismissed.

pointless, fuel will never come back down to anywhere close to a £1 a litre. I have more chance of winning the lottery

a note to anyone that signs it, welcome to junk mail heaven.

like already said, it will more than likely never be discussed HOC, the rioting petitions got over 100,000 in less than a month and they were never discussed and imo a lot more of an issue than petrol prices

we need it, they know it, and its running out. why would they ever dream of lowering the prices

Do point out to the driver that fairy dust is made from ground up fairies, who are murdered by goblins.

The petition will make no odds.  Go read up about Peak Oil.

The price will not come down.  End of.
